Most of the rooms have more beds in them, Quayside for instance will sleep 8 people, however so that we all get our own space I am arranging that only one person per room, some will get a double bed others a twin or maybe even a bunk bed, if you get a bunk you can decide to sleep on the top or the bottom.

General info on the accommodation. All rooms are non-smoking, no pets are allowed unless by prior arrangement, we have to vacate the rooms by 10.00 on the morning of Saturday 5th October.

Manessa: no bed linen supplied, I will arrange hire for 3 rooms, and hence the charge of £40.00, it may only be £30.00 so adjustments can be made later. All the other rooms have bed linen, but please arrange your own towels etc.

Travel arrangements: To keep travel costs to a minimum we car-share as much as possible, I will take 2 other members in my car, although it’s petrol paid by my company my two passengers should contribute towards the overall cost of non-company cars, as we get a bit closer I will try to confirm expected petrol costs and travel arrangements.

If you intend to be one of the drivers please let me know ASAP so that we can finalise who goes in which car, please also let me know if it’s a company car with fuel paid, it all helps to keep our costs down.

General notes about the holiday.

We are booked into the St Merryn Holiday Village which is a mixture of bungalows and holiday homes, each property is spacious and well laid out, each of our 4 booked properties will sleep 6 or more, so we will have plenty of room, I have listings for each of the properties giving a full description.

We are booked from 28th September and can arrive anytime after 3.0pm and need to book out by 10am on the 5th October.

I have been checking on a boat trip with Padstow Sealife Safaris, they can do a 4-5 hour trip for us around some of the more rugged coastline in the area and perhaps get us to places we won’t be able to reach by car/foot, this could cost an extra £50-60 per person, I can book it nearer the time and they have agreed we could pick the day most suited for us, thinking photography, so please let me know if your interested in this trip.

We have plenty of other things to do down in Cornwall, including Bodmin Moor, St Michaels Mount, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and if you want The Eden Project, this is a good one if its not too bright, or raining because you can be inside, there’s lots of things to photograph at all of these places, we also have old mine workings, small fishing villages, harbours and some general landscapes, I’m not including Landsend in the program as a lot of walking and not much to photograph, only to say we’ve been there. We also hope to get a sunset or two whilst down there. Some of you might even like a sunrise; this is not normally my thing but always willing to give it a go.

If any members know of some nice places to visit, again thinking photography please let me know and I can look to include them in the program, as we get nearer to the holiday I would like to have a program in place for each day even if we change it around because of the weather etc. I like to try and avoid the ‘what shall we do tomorrow’ so a fairly full program makes for a good holiday.

Regarding food, the plan is we each arrange our own breakfast, of course there’s shops nearby so we don’t need to take a lot of stuff with us, lunch and evening meal, the plan is to eat out, I have contacted a restaurant in Padstow, but as yet have not had a reply, but there’s plenty of places in the area, I always find the group meal at the end of the day is a super time, relaxing, chatting and reviewing the day and lining up the next day, apart from a piece of chocolate cake it all makes for a good end to the day.

General things like memory-cards, batteries, whatever camera gear you want to take with you, I generally take nearly everything, including my tri-pod, but don’t forget the chargers for things that run on battery power, and of course what do you do when your memory card is full, so spare cards or some storage device, lap-top or portable hard drive are a good idea.

If anybody has any ideas, comments to make or places to visit please drop me a line, I will call a meeting in the next few weeks to discuss all the various arrangements, please don’t forget to let me have the balance of any monies due before the payment deadline.

I’m assured the weather is going to be fantastic, but just in case it’s not take all the gear/clothes you think you might need, better to have it with you and not need it than wish you had it with you.

We have eleven members confirmed for the holiday and Ian will let me know shortly if he can make it, this leaves us with one more room if anybody else wants to join us.

If you wish to be one of the drivers please let me know, also if it’s a company car with fuel paid, we can then work out who goes in which car etc.

Cheers

Peter.
