We stay here for sunset (fingers crossed)

Time depending we may be able to squeeze in Hell’s Mouth.

Monday

Meet Susan in Padstow – The top car park on the way into Padstow at 9.30

Drive towards Land's End on A30 could take about 1.5 hours

Could have a stop for a loo/drink break at Hayle. On a roundabout on the A30 just outside St Ives there is a small shopping estate with a coffee place, M&S etc. Option to purchase lunch or snacks drinks for later, would be a good idea for everyone to have something with them to eat/drink. The MacDonald's definitely has a loo. From here maybe 30 mins drive to..

  • Zennor Quoit 20 min uphill walk, not steep. great views and interesting rock formations as well as the tomb

pub in Zennor nearby for loo/drink.

  • Chun Quoit and settlement - farmer has agreed we can park in his yard. Still requires uphill walk, 20 mins, not steep. Will need to confirm with him we are coming
  • (Maybe next stop Madron Holy well as not far drive from here. Pub in Madron untried) or

St Just - lunch options here, cafe, pubs good. Loos available. If we are all eating in the same place I would like to order in advance.

  • nearby Mines at Botallack - ruined on cliff edges. NT has a loo here

After this little opportunity for loo stops other than bushes!

  • Definitely should do Boscawen-un stone circle
  • Depending upon time Madron Holy Well, if not done already means going back on ourselves
  • Carn Euny - Very interesting stone tunnel or Fogou within ancient settlement this is near Boscawen-un

Tuesday

To be arranged with Lynton – possible sun-rise photo trip

Lost Gardens of Heligan – flowers – landscapes – water reflections etc.. Lunch and Toilets

Mevagissey – fishing village – sunset – evening meal

Wednesday

To be arranged with Lynton – possible sun-rise photo trip however we need to be on our way fairly early because the causeway is only open until midday by which time we must be walking back to the mainland.

St Michaels Mount Hopefully walk the causeway to the Mount.

Causeway is open approx 8.05 and closes at midday.

Lunch at or around this area

Then we travel to Lavent Mines (maybe about 60 mins) - Trewellard, Pendeen, near St Just, TR19 7SX (National Trust)

If the weather is building up to an interesting sunset we may travel back to St Michaels Mount – hopefully I can find the car park I went to last time.

Thursday

Meet in Camelford town 09.30. Follow A39 through the town and towards the bottom of the hill just over a bridge (still in the town), there is a free car park. I meet you there, leave my Land Rover and continue with you all. Public lavatories nearby.

Drive 10 mins

Rough Tor - a rocky outcrop with lots of interesting pre-historic and other features at the base.

Drive 15/20 mins

King Arthur's Halls - Very unusual monument in middle of moorland (15 min walk there and back).

Drive 10 mins

Stop in St Breward pub for loo break/drink if required

Drive 30 mins

Golitha Falls - not sure if you were sold on this? An interesting very green and mossy landscape with the river Fowey leaving granite of the moor and falling onto softer rock. Not actual waterfall

Drive 10/15 mins

Trethevy Chamber tomb - Neolithic

Drive 10 mins - stop briefly at Long Tom standing stone en route

Lunch Minions, toilets

Hurlers/Pipers - Circles and standing stones in walking distance

Cheeswring? Rock formation in walking distance

Phoenix tin mine - ruins, in walking distance but can drive

Drive 45/60 mins back towards Camelford

Altarnun? Very pretty village with lovely church and old bridge, but I feel there are too many of us to take pictures inside church. Would be a bit too much of an invasion

NB Lets minimise no ofcars as agreed. Some places have very little space for parking

NB Lunches - It would be fair to warn venues in advance and order in advance too. As there will be more than 10 of us?

The cafe at Minions does pasties, sandwiches, cake and drinks.

Would we want a pub lunch on the other day? lets speak about this on Monday

Friday

I have kept Friday open in case we have to re-arrange one of the previous days trips because of the weather, I suggest we have a quick meeting on Thursday evening to decide what we want to do.

I have several suggestions if we want to look at, also we may want to split the group and make various different visits.

Stand-bys:

In case of bad weather, we have the Eden Project which is under-cover, you could spend several hours there including lunch etc.

I plan to take my laptop and small projector for the odd photoshop session or/and a quick review of some of our images.

Some of the visits may change as we go, but the plan is to stop – take photos – move on to the next stop, with this in mind both Ian and Susan have made up quite a full program.

Saturday

Travel back home (check out by 10.00)
