Class Descriptions

Basic Plyometrics - This half-hour class involves jumps, sprints and other exercises that are designed to develop quickness and strength, as well as cardio conditioning. This class is perfect for anyone looking for an intense workout.

Circuit Class – To participate, members should meet in the Circuit Fitness area a few minutes before class is to begin (see GGX schedule for class days/times). Participants work their way through each of the ten pieces of Life Fitness circuit equipment, performing 15 repetitions on each machine at the same time that all other participants are performing 15 repetitions at their station. After everyone has completed the designated reps, each person in the group will move onto the next piece of equipment in the line until everyone has had the chance to use each of the pieces in the Circuit Fitness area. This sequence is performed two or three times. Additional exercises are added on the Thursday class. All fitness levels welcome.

Fit For Life - This class is for older adults who have little recent experience with exercise or exercise programs. The class is designed to increase flexibility, balance, coordination, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. There is no pressure here, only encouragement. Come join the fun!

HIIT Cycling – high intensity interval training cycling class involves 1 minute of high intensity with a 20-second recovery performed for 30 minutes. It is possible for all levels of fitness by adjusting the recovery to fit individual needs. This class is recommended for people comfortable with an intense cardio workout.

Iron Abs-A high intensity, fast paced abs class that’s guaranteed to get you results! If chiseled abs are what you are after, this is the class for you!!

Kids Circuit-- We want to teach our youth the importance of staying fit and healthy, so we offera youth circuit class for ages 5-11 yrs old. They will have lots of fun doing cardio work while using their muscles in a way that is appropriate for their age levels! This class aims to start good habits now that will last a life time! This class consists of machine use, stretching, and aerobic style games.

Silver&Fit® - This class is designed to increase participants’ flexibility, joint stability, dynamic balance, coordination, agility, reaction time, muscle strength, and cardiovascular endurance. The class is suited for mature adults and individuals looking for a low impact class. Exercises use weights, bands, and balls. Each member may participate at his own speed and comfort level. Light cardio exercise is included to increase heart rate and endurance. In this class, there is no pressure, only encouragement. Come join the fun!

Spin – A non-impact, indoor cycling workout for both athletes and beginners. If you can pedal a bike, you can take a group cycling class. Bikes are designed to mimic high-performance racing bikes, complete with toe cages and straps, performance handlebars, a 40-pound fly-wheel, fixed-gear system and resistance dial to give you the ultimate workout. Take on the terrain and lead the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials and interval training. This 50-minute class is based on outdoor riding. Participants ride to inspirational music over the equivalent of 12 to 15 miles of varied terrain, controlling the intensity of the workout with a resistance dial and pedal speed. This class will increase your cardiovascular fitness, burn fat and tone and shape your legs, hips and butt. After a few sessions you will see your leg strength and muscular endurance improve. Before you know it, you're burning calories and releasing endorphins to give you that natural high and leave you feeling fantastic! Spin is suitable for all fitness levels.

Step – This is a medium to high intensity class with low to high impact, able to accommodate first time to veteran participants. The music is typically top 40 dance, but may include occasional retro rock/disco/pop. Choreography changes infrequently, so participants can learn moves and get the most benefit from class. The focus of this class is safe, effective, fun, upbeat movement.

Tai Chi – a class based on Chung Man Ching’s 37-posture style, this is an accessible class aimed at the beginner. Tai Chi is great for decreasing stress and building strength. It has been found to build balance and decrease the risk of falling. Tai Chi is a gentle, non-impact exercise that can be performed by virtually anyone who can walk.

Total Body – This class combines strength and cardio moves to give your body its maximum workout in an hour. In the class we use dumbbells, resistance bands, body bar, and more to tone and firm the total body.

Yoga (Vinyasa flow)– Vinyasa flow yoga is an exercise that challenges your upper body and core strength, increases flexibility, and enhances the cardio-vascular system. At the same time, it develops mental focus and activates the parasympathetic nervous (i.e.: relaxation) system. Using a particular breathing technique, we match movement with breath; we begin with sun salutations, move to standing poses, work into sitting postures, and complete the class with rest pose. Areas of focus include balancing poses, spinal extension, flexion and twisting, inversions, and core strengthening.

YogaFit® - Based on the ancient fitness science of Hatha yoga, YogaFit® blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. YogaFit® overcomes the mystery of yoga by delivering a practical, user-friendly style, which is accessible, understandable, and doable by individuals at any level of fitness.

Zumba®–Zumba® is a Latin inspired dance fitness program. It is a fun way to burn calories and move to international rhythm. Moves can be adapted to all fitness levels. No coordination needed! Come join the fun!

Zumba Toning – This fun and enjoyable class infuses light weight toning exercises and Zumba dance movements in a group exercise setting.
