Endangered Species Research Paper

Identify an endangered or threatened species in the world that you would like to research. Then, research the following information below about your species.

  • Basic Information on the Species: Latin name, where is it found, current population size. Predators of this organism? Diet of organism?
  • Why is this species endangered? Describe each reason.
  • Are there any intrinsic characteristics that this species has that make it more susceptible to extinction? (ex: low reproductive rates, specialist, etc.)
  • Is this species endangered or threatened? What list(s) is the species on (List all you can find)? CITES? EPA? IUCN Red List? What does being on these lists mean?
  • What are the benefits of saving this species? Describe at least two (do not say there are none).
  • What are the negative effects of saving this species? Describe at least two (there are always negatives…don’t say there are none)
