PART – A

Internal Quality Advisory Committee wasformed in the beginning of the academic year 2009-2010. [A copy of the Committee is enclosed – 1]

Calendar of events was prepared in the beginning of the year [copy enclosed - 2]

Action plan for the year 2009-2010 has been designed.

Achievements made during the year by the institution is summarized as under:

  1. Induction Test was conducted at the beginning of the year for fresh entrants.
  2. First and Second Tests were conducted, in addition to giving assignments, answer scripts were assessed and students’ performance has been communicated to the parents. Educationally disadvantaged students, weak students with poor performance in series of tests have been identified and remedial classes were arranged to improve their academic standards. Students with rich potentiality have been provided with enrichment coaching to compete at national level to stand at the global competition. As a result of additional coaching the performance of students in the university semester examinations was found satisfactory.
  3. Seminars, workshops, penal discussions and group discussions were conducted by different departments in classrooms on different topics, interdisciplinary topics in common auditorium hall, to motivate students so as to strengthen their stage courage and to develop the art of presentation. The total number of seminars conducted during the year was 347.
  4. Home Assignments are given and hints are given by the concerned teachers to improve the quality of presentation in the examination.
  5. Inter disciplinary classes are conducted by the departments of Economics, sociology, History, Political science and Commerce. The department of Economics and Commerce jointly conducted debate on “BEST PRACTICES - IN CASE STUDY METHOD OF TEACHING AND GROUP DISCUSSIONS ON CURRNT ISSUES”
  6. To improve the Quality of students and to bring improvement in the standard of passing, following special classes are conducted.

Extension Programs

Following extension activities have been continued from

  1. Helping Senior Citizens in getting old age pension from Govt.

About 50 old age pensions have been got sanctioned from revenuee dept. for senior citizens from adopted village.

  1. Creating mass awareness on importance of breast feeding and health care. Mass awareness programme on “Optimum Use of Water” & Maximization Water Table” in association with Ministry of Water Management. Government of India.
  2. Mass Awareness on “Importance of Girl Child and Prevention of Female Feoitecide” in Association with FPAI BelgaumBr. & Red Cross Society of India.
  3. Health Check up and Awareness programme for Disabled Persons in association with District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre Belgaum [DDRC] and Health Department, Government of Karnataka.
  4. Educating rural mass and youth’s proper use of voting rights.
  5. Aids Awareness Day.
  6. Entrepreneurship awareness programme
  7. Educating innocent voters during pre election period.
  8. Consumer awareness campaign
  9. Eco friendly activities like plantation, awareness on pollution free environment
  10. Pulse polio programme
  11. Visit to Anganwadi Centres and helping to promote Child care.
  1. Use modern methods:

Charts, Maps, Slide Show, LCD, Project Presentations, Exposure to the Nature, Exposure to Practical Work, Industry Linkage, Visit to Banks, Insurance, Transport, Visit to Market, Visit to Slum Area’s, Visit to Karnataka State Assembly, Camp at Belgaum. etc., visit to forest and parks are employed by different department to enrich students with in-depth Knowledge on practical working of the system.

  1. Group discussion: Total number of group discussions conducted is 30. Students were trained on the techniques and importance of group discussions for corporate culture. Burning issues like Global Melt Down, Semester System, Personality issues, Global Warming, Corruption, Inflation etc., were the topics covered.

  2. Department of Botany arranged tour to Ulavi, Ranganttitu for four days for B.Sc. III Students.
  3. Local excursion for B.Sc. I Botany students.
  4. Zoology department visited “EMMU” park Gadhinglaj
  5. Department of Chemistry arranged one tour to DKSSK Chikodi.
  6. Study tour to DKSSK Sugar Factory by Commerce department.
  7. Visit to Sabarikolla of Ramdurga by B.Sc.VI sem. Botany & Zoology department to study flora fauna.

Feed Back:

At the end of the first and second term feed back from students on teacher’s performance.

Teachers of all departments collect topic wise feedback in course of teaching.

Feedback from students is also collected on various facilities provided on the campus like Library facility, Gymkhana, NCC, NSS, Placement Cell, Health Care Center, Hostel, Canteen, Students Grievances Cell, Drinking Water, Facility, Students- teacher relation, students-non-teaching staff relation, clean maintenance of campus etc.

Feedback from Alumni: Alumni meeting is held once in a year and constructive suggestions are taken for further improvement.

Feedback from parents is collected in furthering the students support activities and public relations.

13. N.S.S. Unit: The total number of volunteers registered 100 out of which 35 girls and 65 boys. The N.S.S unit of the college is active throughout the year and undertaken number of programs useful to students and institution in particular and the public in general. Annual special Camp for 07 days has been organized in an adopted village Basavanal Gadde. Rural oriented programmes like plantation, roads, providing sanitary system, creating awareness on proper use of water energy,emphasizing the importance of health and hygienic conditions for better life style,creating greater awareness on legal and consumer rights etc., were undertaken.

14. N.C.C unit consists of 100 cadets including 33 girl cadets. B. and C Certificates examinations are held and 45 cadets appeared “B” Certificate and 04cadets appeared “C” Certificate exam.

PART – B

1. Our Slogan, Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives.

To fulfill these goals and objectives various academic programs are initiated.

2. New Academic programmes initiated (UG & PG )

In line with our vision, mission, goals and objectives following programmes are offered to our students.

  1. B.A / B.Sc. / B.Com programs are offered leading to graduate degree.
  2. B.C.A has been re-introduced from the year 2005 – 2006 and the intake capacity has been increased from 30 to 60 from the year 2007 – 2008. Due to heavy demand for the program the intake capacity has been further increased to 80.
  3. B.B.A has been introduced from the year 2007 – 2008 with initial intake capacity of 80 students. It is gaining good response from year to year.

4. Master of Commerce [M.Com] PG. program is introduced from the academic year 2008 – 2009. The Government of Karnataka and Karnatak University, Dharwad anaffiliating authority has permitted to commence P.G Programme in Commerce i.e. M.Com with an intake capacity of 25 students.

All the 25 seats have been filled by scholarly aspiring students.

5.REACHING THE UNREACHED: [ MOU with IGNOU ]

Indira Gandhi National Open University study Centre opened in the year 2004 with PG. Programs like M.A in English, Hindi, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Rural Development, and M.Com. In addition to this number of Diploma and Certificate programs are also offered to students with a vision of Reaching the Unreached. Every year more then 50 students are taking the benefit of IGNOU programs. For the current academic year 65 students have admitted for different programs including M.A. Hindi, 15 students and for M.A. English 10 students. Dr. S. B. Hagaragi is working as coordinator.

6.KARNATAKSTATEOPENUNIVERSITY: [ MOU with KSOU]

Karnataka State OpenUniversity Study Center is also being opened, the approval is already given and it started admissions to various programs from June 2007.

Dr. M. T. Kurani, Department of Chemistry is working as Co-ordinator.

7.Innovations in curricular design and transaction:

Number of faculties and HOD’s actively participated at different forums in framing new curricular from year to year. This has resulted in introduction semester system inKarnatakaUniversity, Dharwad. Faculties were encouraged to participate in work shop on different subjects organized by different colleges and university. Feed back from different groups on curriculum is taken to the notice of higher authorities.

8. Interdisciplinary programs. Economics, Commerce and Sociology, Physics, Computer Science and BCA, Chemistry and biology. Joint special lectures were arranged inviting professional experts from different walks of life to address the students on current issues. Issues like Nano-technology, bio diversity, Global Recession, Soft Skills, Personality Development, etc.

9. Examination Reforms: Periodical tests are conducted as part of internal assessment procedure. Periodical examination reports are preserved and communicated to parents. Remedial measures were initiated to improve the results. Parents were solicited to visit the college now and then to keep regular interaction with parents.

18. COMMUNITY SERVICES:

NCC and NSS students are regularly attending health check up programmes. Health awareness programmes for disabled persons, issue of handicapped person’s disability certificates at Govt. Hospital Chikodi is arranged.

Aids Awareness Programs: NSS and NCC units along with other students participated and contributed towards creating awareness on Aids Awareness programs.

SURVA SIKSHA ABHIYAN: N.S.S. Volunteers along with other students coming from rural area are involved in a Scheme “BALE MARALI BAA SHALEGE” Dropout Girl children in villages are persuaded to come back to school.

Pulse Polio Program. [PPP]: N.S.S.Volunteers are regularly involved in making pulse polio programme 100% success. N.S.S.Volunteers including lady cadets and local youths actively involve in the pulse polio program and ensure that all new born babies are covered under the programme.
