2015Nomination Form

The Barb King Environmental Stewardship Award recognizes a parks and recreation agency that has achieved excellence in environmental stewardship.

The nomination deadline is March 23, 2015.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Agency or nominator must be a member of NRPA
  • The agency’s environmental stewardship mayinclude:
  • the establishment and communication of goals for key environmental barometers such as water and energy use, greenhouse gas reduction, use of sustainable resources, recycling and waste reduction;
  • the adoption of guidelines for purchasing environmentally preferable products;
  • the planning and construction of environmentally sustainable buildings, structures and sites;
  • the adoption of environmentally sensitive maintenance practices;
  • environmental education and outreach campaigns to the community;
  • the achievement of significant goals in environmental stewardship;

Required Materials

  • Answers to the questions provided below
  • Two letters of recommendation only
  • A copy of existing sustainability plans
  • A copy of specifically related communications or public relations pieces
  • A list of objectives that guide the agency and its operations specifically related to environmental stewardship

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  • All nominations must be received by NRPA no later than March 23, 2015. NRPA will not return any materials submitted with the nomination.
  • Nominator may only nominate using this official nomination form.
  • All materials must be submitted electronically in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format.

Submit no more than two documents (multiple documents may be combined, video links included, however, submit no more than two separate documents). No separate photographs will be accepted. To insure connectivity, provide URL addresses, not hyperlinks. Provide PDFs as a separate attachment, not embedded in application form.
