Warm- Up Cards

Bar Graph and Line Graph Cards from Hal Cramer-

Directions- Students can work individually or in partners for this warm-up. Have the students start with the activity on the left, read the graph and then perform the activity. This continues until students complete all 5 activities or until I stop the music. If students finish their card they can trade with another friend who is finished or trade with teacher.

  • Activities can be modified to primary or intermediate students

Warm-Up Activity

Math Fact Exercise Cards

Directions- Create a card using basic math facts or algebra operations. The students will solve the math problem and use the answer to perform that number of the exercise listed.

  • Differentiate your math fact cards to meet the needs of your students
  • Students can work in partners to assist each other
  • Allow students to create math fact cards

How Hard Are You Working?

4th-5th grade – Graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real-world and mathematical problems

Equipment – Pulse sticks, jump ropes, hoops, cones

Students rotate through each station with “Intensity” worksheet. They participate in the activity for 30 seconds then take their pulse by holding the pulse stick. Record on the sheet.

Data can be graphed in class (collaborate with classroom teacher).

Shape Creations

Directions- Students create different shapes using jump ropes, working independently, with a partner, or small group.

  • Provide pictures of shapes as a reference for students
  • Students can also create letters, words or numbers
