·  Room Parent (help to coordinate volunteers, send e-mails and other communications)

·  Transportation

o  Bus for the MPA (arranging for the bus – getting estimates, etc.).
Dates for this year are March 21 – 23. I plan to request Tuesday,
March 22; 2nd choice would be Wednesday, March 23. The festival location is TBA at present.

o  Other events

·  Newsletter and Web-site articles

·  Food for post concert party days (set-up and clean-up)

o  Parents to keep auditorium doors closed until 7:15 on concert night

o  Video Concerts (We’d love to have the DVD for the post-concert party. I do have a small video recorder if you need it.)

o  Winter: Wednesday or Thursday, Dec. 2-3

o  Spring: Wednesday or Thursday, May 11-12

·  Dates – Note all dates in the syllabus, please place on family calendars

·  Concert – Each student is required to remain for the entire concert.

·  Supplies

o  Minimum of three good reeds at all times for woodwinds

o  Valve oil for brass

o  All Percussionists must have their own mallets (see Handbook)

o  metronome (essential for each student)

o  tuner (essential for each student)

·  Practice – Literature, technical exercises, sightreading, scales

·  Smart Music: assignments, scales, sightreading, technical exercises, solo literature

·  Sectionals – 5 Wed. sectionals are required (see Handbook for dates)

·  RCHS-owned instruments – students and parents are responsible for repairing and cleaning these instruments

·  Sightreading Books ($25.00) – see my website under Announcements

·  Festival Bus – a necessity, cost around $25 per student
