Neal Gilmore - Trustee re-elected for Treasurer

I am a Chartered Certified Accountant working at a central London firm of Chartered accountants and specialise in charities but originallystudied Environmental Biology at Oxford Polytechnic.

I have always had a passion for music and have been interested in synthesizers and electronic music since the early 1980’s. I played original material with synthesizers in a four-piece group back in the early 1990’s and still have a small studio set up at home. I am also Branch Treasurer for one of the largest London branches of Parkinsons UK and a Section Assistant for my local Sea Scout Group.

Alison Rowley has an extensive legal background. A law graduate of Cambridge University, she has nearly 30 years' experience practising as a barrister and in other senior legal positions. She has an ability to understand and cut through "legal jargon" and summarise issues concisely and clearly.

A lifelong passion for music has developed into a deepening interest in music therapy. Alison is a member of BAMT, and hopes to study the MA in Music Therapy on a part-time basis. She plays a number of instruments, is a qualified violin teacher, plays in two orchestras and sings in two choirs, and is heavily involved in music in her local community (including helping in music lessons at her local special school for children with complex learning difficulties).

Marianne Rizkallah - Trustee standing without Portfolio

I qualified as a music therapist in 2013. I have experience of working with children, young people and adults in a variety of acute, rehab and community settings in the NHS and in the third sector. My clinical work has specialised in ASC and adult mental health, previously also working with patients with dementia.

As a member of other organisations I am involved with, I have particular experience in strategy and planning. I have also set up a number of new posts as a music therapist, successfully gaining further funding beyond initial time frames and embedding new services into wider teams. My particular interest as a BAMT trustee is in BAMT as an organisation – what it is, what it is there for and how it can best serve its members. I hope with my experience I can help move BAMT further forward in its aim to be a charitable and professional support for UK music therapists.

Davina Wilson - Trustee standing without Portfolio

I am writing to you to express my interest in becoming a BAMT trustee. I have become increasingly interested in the development of the profession I have worked for for the past 10 years. In my time I have worked in a wide range of fields from cradle to grave. I am passionate about being a music therapist feeling both like a veteran and a newcomer to it almost every day. I understand that with the fast growth of our profession has meant some gaps in how we formulate best practice has developed, something I have become more aware of since taking on the role of East Midlands area coordinator 4 years ago. These issues take time and resources to resolve, something which a charity tends to be scarce of. I want to be part of the solution and become more hands on with the professional body who can make a difference.

Although I perhaps do not bring a specific skill set which can be exploited to BAMT, I am keen to put music therapy on a national map integral to health services. Understanding that this may be the way forward in order to establish ourselves as core to any health or educational setting has been something which I have always tried to push to the best of my ability. To this end I have been involved with the Allied Health Professionals forum to ensure our voice gets heard. I hope the commonality of goals between BAMT and my enthusiasm will perhaps enable music therapy to reach the national picture in a way it has never done before.
