Learning Objectives
ABC World Class Regular (WCR)
ABC Professional Report Writing will enable you to write reports with confidence across a variety of areas. This is new course, conceived for the 21st century professional, includes:

WhyReports?

Report writing is a serious challenge. Why do we do it? What are the characteristics of good reports, and what are the skills we need to write them? This lesson involves analyzing and categorizing (both key report writing skills). ABC Case Studies help put your learning into practice.

Where do we start?

We start all reports in the same way. We analyze the four Ws in detail and combine these statements into our Statement of Purpose. You will practice writing the 4Ws with a series of Report Briefs to confirm your understanding of this important lesson.

Professional Report Writing

Following the 4Ws, you develop areport Outline and then write the Main Section. This implies a high level of formality. What are the major language features in report writing? This will help you develop the right approach and language in your reports at work.

Formal Reports

Report writing involves the organization of large amounts of information. We then add short versions (introduction, summary, etc). What are the conventions and how are they changing? We study real reports on the web to see how this all fits together, and which approaches are most successful.

Research Reporting

When we don’t have the information, we have to find it. We need an understanding of research design, and the research process. Digital technology has changed the way we collect and analyze data. Online questionnaires are becoming commonplace. ICT also allows better report presentationand graphical displays.
