TOURNAMENT PROSPECTUS – CONDITIONS

- No player shall be eligible to compete unless he or she is a player in good standing with his or her national association.
- The Championships will be run in accordance with the BWF General Competition Regulations (GCR) and Regulations for Grand Prix. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Tournament Referee will be final.
- BADMINTONscotland is opposed to the use of drugs in sport and is a member of and subject to the anti-doping jurisdiction of the Badminton World Federation. Anti-doping will be conducted in accordance with BWF and WADA Regulations. Please consult the BWF website for further information, and to view the current WADA Prohibited List. Please note that athletes must complete a TUE (Therapeutic Exemption) application process to apply for authorisation to take medications which fall under the Prohibited List BEFORE they take medication. All players require to comply with the regulations and statutes and are deemed to be fully aware of the regulations and statutes which are detailed on the BADMINTONscotland website. It is imperative that the player should know the name(s) of any medicine(s) or drug(s) being taken so that the drug testing centre can be advised. Players selected for Testing should be notified only after completing their last match of the day. Should a Player be notified before completing the Player's last match of the day, the Player may request a delay in reporting to Doping Control until after the Player's last match has been played. In such cases, the DCO or Chaperone will keep the Player under continuous observation until the Player has completed the last match and is ready to report to Doping Control.

The above schedule may be changed at the discretion of the Referee and BADMINTONscotland. All events will be run on a timetable system. Competitors must be ready to play 20 minutes before their scheduled time. Players not ready to play at the scheduled time will be disqualified. Alterations to competition schedule due to Television coverage is possible and will be announced by the Referee. The period for knocking up before any match shall not exceed two minutes.
- The Qualifying Rounds are part of the Championships
- Yonex AS50 feather shuttlecocks will be used exclusively. Yonex courts will be used exclusively.
- Entries, together with entry fees, must be sent to BADMINTONscotland, Cockburn Centre, 40 Bogmoor Place, Glasgow G51 4TQ, accompanied by the appropriate remittance for Entry Fees. Players will not be accepted without a BWF ID-number. If you do not have a BWF ID-number your completed entry must be received by TUESDAY 10 OCTOBER 2017to allow us time to apply for one. If you do have a BWF ID-number your completed entry must be received by FRIDAY 13 OCTOBER 2017to allow BADMINTONscotland to check and process. Your entry must be accompanied by a passport style photograph as photographic accreditation will be in operation. BADMINTONscotland will submit all Scottish entries using the BWF on-line entry system before Tuesday 17 October 2017 at 23.59 hrs BWF Headquarters time in Malaysia (+0800 GMT) – that is 15.59 hrs UK time. No late entries will be accepted. If in doubt contact Penny at BADMINTONscotland (). Non-Scottish players must enter via their Member Association. Entries may be refused if players have outstanding fees from previous years.
- No alteration, except withdrawal, can be made to the entries after the closing date in accordance with BWF General Competition Regulation 5.9. Any withdrawal after the Sunday immediately preceding the draw, for any reason whatsoever, renders the playerconcerned liable to an amount of US$ 250 per player/pair, to be collected by the BWF, for the inconvenience caused by the withdrawal (as defined in BWF General Competition Regulations). No entry fees will be refunded or cancelled if a player withdraws from the tournament for any reason whatsoever. For information the draw will be carried out on Tuesday31 October 2017, therefore the Sunday immediately preceding the draw is Sunday 29 October 2017.
- The draw and seeding will be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Badminton World Federation. In the event of withdrawals following the draw, the referee will allocate the players promoted from waiting list to qualification and from qualification to main draw during the team managers’ meeting on Tuesday 21November 2017.
- Clothing and Advertising Regulations:

NAMES AND COLOURS / BWF Competition Regulations 19-23 will apply. The BWF Regulations require players’ names to be on the back of their shirts and give the option of also having their country beneath the name. This Regulation also applies to the Qualifying Rounds.
It is mandatory that from the quarter-finals onwards, the opposing players in each match wear significantly different colours from each other.
It is mandatory for doubles partners to wear the same colour from the quarter-finals onwards.
In the event that the opposing players/pairs involved in a match wish to wear the same coloured clothing, the player/pair ranked lower (using the BWF World Ranking used to produce the final Main & Qualifying [M&Q] Report) will be required to wear clothing of a different colour.
OTHER REGULATIONS / Please refer to the BWF General Competition Regulations for additional obligations and regulations concerning clothing including the dimensions of lettering permitted.
- Late entries, entries sent without the appropriate fees and entries from players who have left insufficient time to be given a BWF ID-number will not be accepted.
- No pair shall be accepted for a doubles event unless entry forms have been received from both players.
- No entry will be accepted from any player who has taken part in any unauthorised Tournament, League or Match.
- Prize Money: US$ 65,000. Distribution in accordance with BWF Regulations. Medals for all winners and runners-up.

Income tax may be deducted from the prize money in accordance with British Inland revenue Regulations.
- Presentation Ceremonies:
During the presentation ceremonies, players may wear tracksuits, but headgear, rackets and racket bags are not permitted. No other form of advertising will be permitted. This will be strictly enforced.
The presentation to winners and runners-up will take place at the conclusion of each final match. Players are reminded when booking flights home on Sunday that the finals may not finish until 1800 hrs, depending on the start time, and also that they may be selected for dope testing – they should therefore book their flights accordingly. Players shall not plan their departure less than two (2) hours after their last match is planned to conclude.
- Media Obligations:
It is a condition of entry that each player must be willing to give on-court interviews for television immediately after a match whether the match has been won or lost, and to attend a post-match press conference on request.
To assist with the promotion of the tournament and the game in general, it is a condition of entry that each player must be willing to participate on request in at least one appropriate activity of not more than one hour’s duration (such as autograph signing, participating in ‘meet the public’ question and answer sessions etc).
BWF has the right to use photographs, film material or any other image of players taken during events sanction by BWF. By entering the Scottish Open Grand Prix you agree to consent to such use.
When a player is entered into a BWF sanctioned event, televising/broadcasting and still photography of that event is permitted at all associated venues (including training/practice) without further need to seek consent. Television signals can be shown in any and all territories on live or recorded television, internet, web casting, audio, film and other media of similar nature.
- It is a condition of entry that all players shall give their consent to BWF to process their personal data, including to receive, collect, hold and record their personal data for the purposes of monitoring and investigating illegal or irregular betting activities committed or to be committed by any such player in a BWF-sanctioned tournament. In this connection by entering the Scottish Open Grand Prix you agree to consent to such use. BWF have the right to process the personal data, including to share and disclose the personal data of any player involved in irregular or illegal betting in BWF-sanctioned tournaments, to any relevant authority or the European Sports Security Association.
- The committee reserves the right to add to or alter these Conditions.
