To Kill A Mockingbird
Background Information Oral Presentation
This semester we will be reading To Kill A Mockingbird, a novel that deals with growing up, family dynamics, injustice, and racism.
The story is set in Alabama in the 1930s. A lot has changed since then, so this term we will research different aspects of the 1930s so that we will all become experts on that decade and, as a result, better understand the context of the story.
TASK
Individually, or with a partner, you will prepare a presentation (4 minutes per person) onone aspect of the 1930s. You must support your presentation with a visual aid, which can be either a PowerPoint presentation OR a poster.

HELPFUL HINTS
- A penalty of -10% will be issued for any student who speaks for less than 3 minutes and 30 seconds, or for more than 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Every student will receive an INDIVIDUAL MARK for this presentation; this means that should students decide to present a large topic as a team, they will each receive a grade based on what each person presents. (Each partner of a team must create a poster OR slides to support his/her half of the presentation.)
- All sources must be cited (create a list of Internet sites you visit, and don’t forget to use quotation marks!)
