CHANGE IS NOT JUST SCHOOL RELATED…. IT’S LIFE!

Everything on earth has its own time and its own season. There is a time
for birth and death, planting and reaping…destroying and building, for crying and laughing, weeping and dancing…embracing and parting. There is a time
for finding and losing, keeping and giving… listening and speaking. There is also a time
for love and hate, for war and peace. ECC. 3:1-8

2. CHANGE IS PART OF GROWING UP! GROWING UP IS TOUGH!

3. CHANGE SURPRISES! NOT ALWAYS READY FOR IT!

Eliab asked David, “Why did you come here? Who did you leave those sheep with in the desert? I know why you came down here. You didn’t want to do what you were told to do. You just wanted to come down here to watch the battle.” 1 SAM. 17:28

NOBODY SAW DAVID AS A GIANT KILLER…

Saul answered, “You can’t go out and fight against this Philistine. You’re not even a soldier! Goliath has been fighting in wars since he was a boy.” 1 SAM. 17:33

DIFFICULT TO SEE…ESPECIALLY THOSE CLOSE TO YOU! FAMILY DIDN’T SEE IT

4. CHANGE PREPARES YOU! GOD USES CHANGE!

DAVID KNEW CHANGE…HE FACED THE SURPRISE MOMENTS…AND HE GREW!

But David said to Saul, “There were times when I was taking care of my father’s sheep that wild animals came to take some sheep from the flock. Once there was a lion and another time, a bear. I chased that wild animal, attacked it, and took the sheep from its mouth….I killed both a lion and a bear and I will kill Goliath, just like them. Goliath will die because he made fun of the army of the living God. The Lord saved me from the lion and the bear. He will also save me from this Philistine.” 1 SAM 17: 34-37 (THAT WILL SURPRISE YOU…A KID!)

5. CHANGE STARTS AND STOPS RELATIONSHIPS!

VIDEO-TOY STORY 3

Saul decided to take David with him. He would not let David go back home to his father. 1 SAM. 18:1

SHEPHERD TO CELEBRITY! KING’S HOUSE! SEPERATED FROM FAMILY!

BUT STARTS A NEW RELATIONSHIP

After David finished talking with Saul, Jonathan developed a strong friendship with David. Jonathan loved David as much as himself,…. 1 SAM 18:2-3

ROLLER COASTER… SOUNDS LIKE LIFE… FULL OF CHANGE!

SOUNDS GOOD RIGHT?….NOT SO FAST…

When the army was returning home after David had killed the Philistine, women from all the towns of Israel came out to meet King Saul. They sang and danced for joy…This was their song: “Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!” This made Saul very angry. 1 SAM 18:6-8

JEALOUSY- TRIES TO KILL HIM!

David was playing the harp, as he did each day. But Saul had a spear in his hand, and he suddenly hurled it at David, intending to pin him to the wall. But David escaped him twice.

Saul was then afraid of David, for the Lord was with David and had turned away from Saul. 1 SAM 18:10-12

ADVERSITY…JONATHAN AND DAVID GOT CLOSER!

So Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, saying, “May the Lord destroy all your enemies!” And Jonathan made David reaffirm his vow of friendship again, for Jonathan loved David as he loved himself. 1 SAM 20: 16-18

DEEP FRIENDSHIP….BROTHERS! TEARFUL!

David bowed three times to Jonathan with his face to the ground. Both of them were in tears as they embraced each other and said good-bye, especially David. And Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, for we have sworn loyalty to each other in the Lord’s name. 1 SAM 20: 41-42

WHAT DO WE TAKE FROM THIS?

CHANGE WILL HAPPEN AND IT’S TOUGH!
