Community Education Winter/Spring 2013 Class Offerings

ACT PREP SESSIONS – For high school students interested in helping prepare themselves for the ACT Test. Will include a review of all sections of the ACT Test, English, Reading, Math, Scientific Reasoning, and Writing.
Students must pre-register to attend. Please call the Community Education Office at 849-2020. Seating is limited to 25 students.

BABYSITTING CLASS (BLAST)–For students ages 11 and older. The BLAST (Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training) babysitting course will offer safety, first aid, care for infant through school-age children, sitter basics including feeding and behavior problems/discipline. Students must attend the entire class time to become certified; six hours of instruction is required. This course will not certify the students in CPR, but will go over the basics of CPR. Students must be at least 11 years old to participate in this class. We ask that each student bring his or her own doll or stuffed animal to class to use for practice. Fee includes instruction and student materials. Students will receive a book and certification card upon completion. Students may bring a snack and/or a sack dinner if they wish (to have during a class break)
*Students must attend the full 6 hrs. of instruction.
***The ratio of student to instructor to 10/1 so we may accommodate up to 20 students per class using our two instructors

CPR/AED/First Aid –For students ages 11 and older. This is a great follow up for kids who have taken the BLAST babysitting course. The course will be taught by the BLAST Babysitting instructors who have been certified through the American Heart Association. Students must attend the entire class time to become certified; seven hours of instruction is required. Students who pass the written test and the hands on test following the instruction will be certified in CPR/AED/First Aid. Students may bring a snack and/or a sack lunch if they wish (to have during a class break)

SET DESIGN (After-School Art Program) –For students in Gr. 5)
*Students should obtain an application/registration form from
Ms. Burton, IntermediateSchool Art Teacher.
Students will meet after school, from 3:30-6:00 p.m.,on January 8, 15, 22, 24, 29, 31 and February 5, 2013, to work on and be involved in creating and painting the set for the Fifth Grade Musical.
