October at eBlend

October will be a busy month at eBlend, we have a lot of fun activities and events planned.
This month the “Community Helpers” kit will arrive for students in Kindergarten to grade 4 to explore on Wednesdays.
Students in grade 5-9 will have an art lesson each week and will begin some work in the computer lab as they will build an ePortfolio.
Just a quick reminder, drop off is 9:00 and pick up is 2:00. Students are required to bring with them: a snack, a lunch, a water bottle and gym shoes.

Baby Shower for Sarah

Please join us Wednesday October 12, from 2:15-3:15 in the Conference Room for a baby shower for Sarah O’Shannessy, and to meet baby Grayson. For those of you who are new to eBlend, Sarah is the K-4 eBlend teacher who is away on maternity leave this year.

Intermediate Drop-in

The Intermediate drop-in is every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-2:30. Students are invited to come to the eBlend classroom if they need extra help, to write a test, to work with a partner, use the computers or printer, or just want another quiet space to work.

Internet, Social Media Safety and Digital Literacy Session for Parents

It is not uncommon for our kids to know more about the workings of the internet and social media than we as parents do, but School District 72 wants to help change that. Education is the first step in keeping our kids safer in this technology-driven world. Parents and guardians are invited to a presentation on digital literacy and internet/social media safety with Darren Laur, of Personal Protection Systems, on October 4 and October 5 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Timberline Secondary Theatre.

Darren is a serving law enforcement professional with 29 years of policing experience who is deeply immersed in social media, both on and off the job. He has taught digital safety for the past 12 years as an internationally recognized safety expert and award winning author.

This session will include such topics as smartphone and webcam safety, how to secure your social network, what our kids are doing online, the dangers of screen names and profiles, who is the internet predator and what are their tricks… and much more!
