AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS – NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS
AUDIT COMMISSION ACT 1998 as amended and THE ACCOUNTS AND AUDIT REGULATIONS 2011 as amended
NOTICE is given that from07 July 2014 to 01 August 2014 between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, any person interested may inspect and make copies of the accounts of the above named Council for the year ended 31 March 2014and all related books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts, except as referred to in Section 15(3) of the Audit Commission Act 1998 in relation to personal information. The accounts and other documents will be available for inspection at the offices at which they are normally kept, or otherwise by arrangement; application should be made initially at the address below.
NOTICE is also given that on or after Monday04 August 2014 at 10.00 a.m. until the completion of the audit, the auditor, at the request of a local government elector for any area to which the accounts relate, will give the elector or his representative an opportunity to question him about the accounts. Any such elector or his representative may make objections to the auditor relating to any matter where the auditor could take action under:
- Section 17 of the Audit Commission Act 1998, namely, to apply to the court for a declaration thatan item in the accounts is contrary to law, and/or
- Section 8 of the Audit Commission Act 1998, namely, to make a report in the public interest.
Questions may be received at the address below by arrangement with Mr Neil Harris, Audit Director,Ernst & Young LLP, OneCambridgeBusinessPark, Cambridge, CB4 0WZ to whom requests for this purpose should be addressed. No objection may be made unless the auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and its grounds. A copy of that written notice must also be sent to the Council at the address below.
