Career Opportunities Assessment

The purpose of this project is to help you as you consider and make decisions regarding your future. This assignment consists of the following:

v  Please include your coat of arms and any other resources you have found helpful.

v  Preparation of a personal resume (see my home page for suggestions)

v  Selection of three possible career choices that interest you, with a description of each

v  Perform a personal SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats)

v  Develop a personal mission statement (one paragraph)

v  Select one of the three options and develop a specific plan to prepare and obtain this career

v  Develop and include a personal code of conduct (see Chapter on Business Ethics)

v  Conduct an interview with someone who is currently in the career you have chosen (starts the networking process). You might ask questions similar to these below: (Provide a one page paper highlighting insights you gained from your interviews)

1.  How did you decide upon your career?

2.  What advice would you give someone who does not know what they want to do for a career?

3.  What are the things you enjoy about your job?

4.  What are some things that make your job difficult?

5.  What would you do differently?

6.  What advice would you give someone interested in your industry?

7.  What are some future considerations with your career/ industry?

Your Career Exploration should be bound and have a cover page and a table of contents.
