Awards Nomination Form

The Men and Masculinities Knowledge Community Awards recognize student affairs professionals’ exemplary contributions and service to the area of men’s gender identity development. We offer four different awards, the On Campus Service,Outstanding New Professional, Innovative Initiative, and Men’s Issues Newly Published ResearchAwards honor colleagues and programs that have demonstrated commitment to students, outstanding leadership, and exceptional research.

Please take a few moments to review all of the awards descriptions on the following page and consider nominating your colleagues, or perhaps someone from another institution, for one of the awards listed. Nominate a colleague that has impressed you with their exceptional program, leadership ability, or research. Awards recipients will be honored at the Fifth Annual Men and Masculinities Annual Awards Reception at the NASPA Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD.

NASPA Men and Masculinities Knowledge Community Award Descriptions

Outstanding New Professional Award:

Awarded to someone who:

●Has shown interest in and made a positive and significant impact for college men’s development

●Has provided outstanding service to an institution of higher education, men and masculinities, and college men

●Has served less than three years in a full-time position at an institution of higher education.

●Is a member or affiliate of NASPA

●Has not have previously received this award

On Campus Service Award:

Awarded to someone who:

●Has made a positive and significant impact for college men, at the campus level

●Has assisted in increasing the involvement and engagement of college men

●Has improved the development of socially just leadership among college men on their campus

●Has made sustained contributions, above and beyond the assigned duties of their role, relating to gender and/or masculinities

●Is a member or affiliate of NASPA

●Has not have previously received this award

Innovative Initiative Award:

Awarded to a program that:

●Demonstrates contributions to men’s and masculinities issues in higher education (e.g., engagement, retention, violence prevention, etc.)

●Has been in existence for at least two years at the time of the nomination

●Has assessment data supporting its success in helping male students on campus

●Has a creative and innovative design

●Has a quantifiable impact on students or the campus community

●Program or activity may not have previously received this award

Newly Published Research Award:

Awarded to someone who:

●Has published peer reviewed research about men and masculinities issues prior to the nomination deadline

●Has made a significant contribution to men and masculinities issues literature and research

●Be a member or affiliate of NASPA

●Not have previously received this award
