Awana at LBC

Awana at LBC

We are so excited your children are participating in the Awana program at LBC! We look forward to seeing God work in our midst this year! The following information should help you be ready for Awana this year.

1. AWANA CLUBS:

• Our Awana program is divided into four clubs:

PUGGLES – 2 yrs. old – 3 yrs. old

CUBBIES - 3,4,5 year olds (not in kindergarten) SPARKS - K, 1st, 2nd graders

T & T (TRUTH & TRAINING – 3rd,4th, 5th graders

• Each club has a rotating schedule where they participate in games, club time (bible stories and testimonies) and handbook time (memorizing scripture).

2. IF YOU ARE NEW TO AWANA AT LBC:

• If your child is new to Awana this fall, he/she will begin the Awana year by completing a small pamphlet (Cubbie Bear Hug, Sparks Gate, T&T Start Zone) during handbook time. After completing the pamphlet the clubber will officially be given their uniform and appropriate award. Then each clubber will begin working in his/her handbook. We encourage you, as parents, to help your child learn the verses. Children in Sparks and T&T will work at their own pace, while Puggles and Cubbies will work together as a group.

3. IF YOU ARE RETURNING TO AWANA AT LBC:

• If you are returning to Awana and already have your uniform and handbook, please bring them to Awana each week. If your child has promoted to the next club you will need to order that uniform. The uniform will be awarded to your child upon completion of that club's pamphlet. Please help your child learn their verses each week!

4. AWANA EXPENSES:

• Dues $10 + Fees $10 = $20 Yearly Expenses (not including optional bag)

Awana Dues - $10 - While the church is covering the majority of expenses for our Awana ministry, there is a small fee to help cover the cost of handbooks, stickers, prizes, awards, etc.

Awana Fees - $10 - This covers your child's uniform. If your child already has one, this fee won't apply to you. Don't forget, if your child is promoting to a new club, you will need a new uniform.

Optional - Club Bag- $5 - Please provide a bag from home or order an Awana bag to help your child keep up with their handbook and their bible. Don't forget to label it!

5. ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL:

At LBC we are blessed to have many children! Our goal is to provide a safe environment for your children to learn about the love of God. We need your help!

If you join us for our Wednesday night meals (5:00pm-6:OOpm) in the Fellowship Hall, please keep your children seated with you. We know it is fun to run and play together, but with so many children, it is difficult to keep them from getting hurt. We are all working together on this! If you bring some type of toy or game device for that time, please keep it with you during AWANA. Please do not allow your child to bring it with them to AWANA.

Awana will begin in the Sanctuary at 6:OOpm. Parents or Guardians must check their children in AWANA each week.

We will dismiss from specific classrooms at 7:15pm. Your child will be told to remain in their rooms until a parent or guardian comes to get them. Many of our Awana kids have been here their entire lives and feel comfortable leaving Awana by themselves. However, because of the volume of children in our program, we need them to stay with the other children to help remove any chaos that could cause difficulties. We will assign your child's dismissal classroom after the first night. Thanks for helping us create an orderly and loving environment for our kids!

Please help us help our children walk and not run through the hallways and the fellowship hall. Again, we're all in this together and we love all the children God is blessing us with!

6. OTHER AWANA INFO:

• Each clubber will also be given an award system for specific goals and behaviors.

• Don't forget to have your children wear appropriate shoes for Game time! Please, no shoes with wheels!

• Periodically, we have special snack nights: Please make us aware of any food allergies you child may have. We want to work with you to provide an appropriate snack for them, too.

• If you are interested in sharing your testimony, being a guest speaker during our club meetings, or helping in any other way, please let Amy Vinson know.

7. REQUIRED: Please fill out and turn in the following to Amy Vinson, Susan Clark, or Allison Wrather: A Registration Form, a Medical Release Form, and your Fees & Dues for each child in Awana.

*The Medical Release Form must be notarized*
