Role title:Member Coordinator – Part-time contract until 21 December 2012

(average of 8 hours per week / total 32 hours per month)

The purpose of this position is to serve the needs of Foresters members and the communities in which they live by engaging member volunteers in activities that promote and benefit the well-being of families.

The Member Coordinator will be the face of Foresters within the local community. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the development of Foresters member volunteers and for delivering successful and engaging member activities.

  • Develop volunteer teams with Foresters members through events and relationship building
  • Project management, on-site event management & logistics, registration & member engagement
  • Event administration and post-event data reporting
  • Negotiate with venues & suppliers to ensure activities are delivered effectively, on time and within budget
  • Attend monthly team teleconferences, regular one-to-ones/coaching sessions and team meetings (as determined by line manager)

Essential:

  • Event or project execution experience
  • Excellent organisational, budget and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively interact & influence diverse groups and a range of individuals, remotely and in person, in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully working with volunteers, having an ability to influence and collaborate for success
  • Ability to think clearly in active environments, and be able to communicate calmly and within known policies and procedures
  • Ability to use good judgment, handle competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable with spokesperson and presentation role
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Demonstrated community involvement and or volunteerism
  • Ability to work from home, with own internet, printing and scanner capabilities
  • Ability to travel locally
  • Access to own vehicle

Preferred:

  • Understanding of volunteer motivations and processes to build volunteer teams
  • Experience with measuring, recording and maintaining event information and results
  • Experience of working remotely
  • Knowledge of local communities

The Member Coordinator will need to be self-disciplined and a self-starter, able to work on his/her own within defined parameters but as an effective member of a remote team.

Hours will vary, including some evenings and weekends, and will average 8 hours per week.
