SUBSIDY PROGRAM FOR OVERSEAS EXHIBITIONS

  1. INTRODUCTION

1.1This subsidy program, funded by AITI, for overseas exhibitions, is to facilitate AITI’s responsibilities to:

1.1.1Promote the effective participation of all local info-communications technology (ICT) companiesin both national and international markets; and

1.1.2Encourage, promote, facilitate, assist and invest in the establishment, development and expansion of local ICT industries in Brunei Darussalam.

  1. OBJECTIVES

2.1The objectives of this program are to:

2.1.1Provide financial assistance to local ICT companiesin their attempts to penetrate the international market;

2.1.2Instill confidence in local ICT companiesby facilitating and assisting their participation in overseas exhibitions;

2.1.3Facilitate the provision of any arising needs of local ICT companiesduring any overseas exhibitions;

2.1.4Ensure that local ICT companiesare effectively exposed and recognized in international forums; and

2.1.5Promote networking between local and overseas ICT companieswith the view of enhancing business opportunities.

  1. ELIGIBILITY

3.1The organization must be registered with the Registrar of Companies or Business Names Registry in Brunei Darussalam.

3.2The organization must have its own services and/or products which are made by citizens of Brunei Darussalam or by locally registered companies or the organization must have the regional distributorship for the service or product that are to be exhibited, i.e. Brunei-made services and/or products.

3.3The representative, from the organization, which AITI subsidizes, must be either a citizen or a permanent resident of Brunei Darussalam.

3.4The organization must ensure that it has a long term business plan, which outlines its expectations from this overseas exhibition, with regards to the promotion of their services and/or products.

3.5The organization must present the services and/or products which it intends to showcase to AITI for approval before participating in any overseas exhibitions.

  1. SELECTION CRITERIA

4.1Applicants will be assessed on their business potential and personal drive. Organizations applying for AITI’s subsidy program for overseas exhibitions must fulfill the following requirements:

4.1.1The representative/s from the organization must have good knowledge of the services and/or products being showcased at the exhibition to enable them to carry out the marketing and potential sales of their services and/or products;

4.1.2The objectives of all representatives must be to expand and seek overseas business opportunities and partnership; and

4.1.3All representatives must demonstrate how their services and/or products as well as their business concept/s and/or plan/s can have business potential in the long run.

4.1.4The participating organization shall ensure that all services and/or products in the exhibition that are licensable activities in Brunei Darussalam whether under the Telecommunications Order, Broadcasting Act or other Laws of Brunei have obtained. The requisite licences and permits which must be valid and available for inspection by AITI upon request unless these services and/or products are meant only for export market and not for local sales.

4.2Due to limited spaces, companies with AITI Accredited Business (AAB) and ICT Accredited Business (ICTAB) status will be given priority in any event.

4.3If your organization fails to meet any of the above criteria, you may justify why you wish to participate in an overseas exhibition; and AITI reserves the right not to entertain such justification.

  1. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITION

5.1The organization shall agree to abide to the terms and conditions stipulated herein.

5.2AITI shall subsidize and provide the following to successful applicants:

5.2.1One (1) economy class return air ticket to are qualified representative from each organization. The ticket shall be arranged by AITI. It is AITI’s policy to arrive at the venue at least two (2) days before the exhibition and depart within a maximum of one (1) day after;

5.2.2One (1) standard hotel room shall be provided in the hotel selected by AITI;

5.2.3Airport – Hotel – Airport shuttles shall be organized by AITI should the participant travel together with AITI’s contingent;

5.2.4AITI shall arrange daily round trip transportation from the designated hotel(s) to the exhibition venue and back. Participants who wish to exclude themselves from such transportation shall be responsible for their own transport and the associated cost/s; and

5.2.5AITI shall provide subsidy for a fixed exhibition booth (the size can either be 2m by 3m or 3m by 3m depending upon the size of the organization and availability of booths). The nominal fee for such booths, to be borne by the qualified organization shall be Five Hundred Brunei Dollars only (BND$500.00). AITI shall subsidize the remaining amount. Any additional booths requested shall be charged at a fixed rate of One Thousand Five Hundred Brunei Dollars (BND$1,500.00) per booth depending upon availability.

5.3The registered organizationmust be a business or company registered with the Registrar of Companies or Business Names in Brunei Darussalam.

5.4All applicants shall be required to provide AITI with a demo or presentation of their services and/or products as well as their business concept/s and/or plan/s to gain approval for participation in any overseas exhibitions. The date of commencement of presentations shall be notified to the applicant by AITI.

5.5AITI will subsidize only one (1) representative per qualified organization.

5.6All representatives must hold a valid passport with an expiry date of not less than six (6) months from the date of travel. It is the responsibility of each representative to obtain a valid VISA to enter Singapore, if necessary.

5.7All applicants shall register to participate for the overseas exhibition as an exhibitor, showcasing their own services and/or products.

5.8All participants shall ensure that their company profile is updated and included in any AITI brochures during the exhibition or on their own business pamphlet.

5.9All participants shall respect and abide by the laws and customs of the host country and shall, at all times, be presentable to the public whilst maintaining a professional conduct.

5.10AITI shall forfeit the nominal fee of Five Hundred Brunei Dollars (BND$500.00) for participation in the event of a cancellation.

5.11No monetary claims shall be made against AITI should the representative wish to use alternative flights other than the one selected by AITI, or in the event that the trip is cancelled.

5.12The organization must fulfill the criteria set by AITIas per para 4, in order to be selected as a participant of any overseas exhibitions. In the event where AITI finds that the information provided by the organization and/or its representative was false, misleading or untrue, AITI reserves the right to retract the offer of the subsidy.

5.13AITI shall not be liable for any losses of damages, pecuniary or otherwise, caused to the representative or registered participant as a result of any delays and/or cancellations of participation.

5.14The registered participant shall indemnify AITI against any losses, damages or liabilities suffered, and from any legal fees incurred resulting from any act, neglect or default of its representatives throughout the overseas exhibition.

5.15All participants shall submit an evaluation report to AITI within one (1) week after the overseas exhibition.

5.16Registered participants are deemed to accept these terms and conditions by virtue of their participation in the exhibition.

5.17Any breach of these terms and conditions shall entitle AITI to claim the total cost of the airticket, hotel accommodation, booth construction and booth space provided from the registered participant.

5.18AITI may any time at its sole and absolute discretion amend, alter and change these terms and conditions and this document as a whole.

6SUBMISSIONS

6.1Applicants shall provide and submit to AITIthe documents and necessary items as listed in the application form for overseas exhibitions.

6.2Applicants must submit their complete application forms together with the necessary documents and payment to AITI no later than4:00pm onFriday, 04 April 2014.

6.3Applicants are required to give a presentation of their services and/or products to be exhibited. The date of presentation shall be notified to the applicant by AITI.

6.4The approved organization shall be notified in writing after the final assessment.
