Wildwood Trust is a unique British charitable venture to secure, for the future, Britain’s largest collection of native wildlife. The Wildwood Centre has existed as a Charity since 2002 and works towards its charitable aims of wildlife conservation and public education.

Wildwood has developed 4 unique skills which are continually advanced:

·  The careful husbandry of Wildwood’s collection of British native, naturalised and once native wildlife.

·  The public education of our relationship with wildlife, its historical context and its future conservation.

·  Application of wildlife husbandry skills and knowledge to pioneer conservation projects that need such skills to help conservation efforts for wild animals.

·  Development of conservation land management projects through the use of keystone species such as wild horses, wild boar and European beaver to produce balanced, semi natural ecological systems. Leading ecologists believe this to be key to the long term survival of our natural heritage.

Trusts and Foundations Manager

The Trusts and Foundations Manager role will be to administer the Trust’s fundraising programmes. This is an exciting position which will help develop a range of new projects to help protect wildlife across the UK and enable projects that allow people to play a role in wildlife conservation.

The post holder will excel in completion of funding applications. This post’s key objectives are:

·  To maximise income from relevant grant aid, which includes:

o  Lottery grants

o  Grant making trusts

o  Government grants

o  Corporate sponsorship

·  To make externally raised funds as effective as possible in achieving our long-term goals.

·  Make sure post grant reporting is completed in full and donor organisations are happy with how we have administered and spent their funds.

We are looking for someone with good written English and report writing skills that can systematically fill in grant applications, and manage the projects that come about from their success.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Trusts and Foundations Manager

Function: Seeking and Managing Grant Applications

Salary: £19,000 to £32,000

Responsible to: Head of Marketing and Fundraising

1  Principal Duties

1.1  Grant applications:

Working closely with the Head of Marketing and Fundraising your primary focus will be the smooth running of our grant applications and their administration.

You will ensure that funding applications are filled in and sent in accordance with a plan drawn up with the Head of Marketing and Fundraising.

Specifically to:

1. Maximise relevant grant aid from:

·  Lottery grants

·  Grant making trusts

·  Government grants

·  Corporate sponsorship

2. Work with the organisation to make externally raised funds fulfil organisational objectives.

3. Make sure post grant reporting is completed in full.

4. Work with existing networks and contacts to identify and approach potential new Trusts and Foundations and develop relationships with key decision makers.

5 Develop and implement compelling cases for support in order to secure new partners.

1.2  Guideline Targets:

You will be responsible for meeting targets to raise 5 times your total employment costs in accordance with best practice guidelines of the Institute of Fundraising.

·  Raise £125,000 in revenue grant income

·  Maintain timely and good communications with donors

A range of financial metrics will be used to determine your performance and the post holder should welcome this.

1.3  Donor Care and Reporting

The key to the success of the post will be to build on our ability to meet the needs for the major funders. You will champion a donor focused attitude within our organisation.

Adopting the highest standards you will develop your skills in grant applications and administration.

1.4  Financial Administration:

You will be required to facilitate all financial administration of the grants awarded to the Trust playing a key role in making financial systems effective. Working closely with the Head of Marketing and Fundraising you will maintain all financial records and make sure they are available for inspection and auditing. You will work closely with all staff at Wildwood to maintain strict financial management systems and documentation.

You will be required to maintain, and make easily accessible, hard copy and computer files and records relating to grants and fundraising.

You will provide assistance to the Chief Executive in preparing budgets, profit margins, labour costs and other strategic data for the good running of Wildwood.

1.5  Special Project Management:

This could be anything - organising a Conference, leading a project team, backing-up other managers, running an event, organising a mailing, chief cook and bottle washer. From time to time, after discussion with the Chief Executive, you will support the activities of other departments when it’s ‘all hands to the pump’.

2  Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We are looking for someone with good written English and report writing skills that can systematically fill in grant applications.

2.1  Essential

·  The successful applicant will be mature, confident and dynamic, flexible, able to carry out tasks independently and able to work effectively in a team context.

·  Excellent written English and word processing skills will be a prerequisite.

·  Common sense and the ability to concentrate and prioritise on the essentials of a task will be key elements of your personality.

2.2  Desirable

·  A good level of competence of working with spreadsheets and report writing.

·  Knowledge of writing business plans.

·  Experience in project management .

·  A genuine love of British wildlife and its conservation.

3  Other Considerations

  1. The post is advertised as a full time role.
  2. Appointment will be subject to a three month probationary period.
  3. Understanding of and sympathy with Wildwood’s role as a conservation body would be helpful.

4  Employment Package

The salary band for the Fundraising Projects Manager is £19,000 to £32,000 depending on skills and experience. Finances permitting, salaries are updated once a year to allow for the rate of inflation.

Normal working hours are a 37.5 hour week, plus a half an hour for lunch. The holiday allowance is 30 days a year, this includes statutory holidays.

Appointments are subject to confirmation after a three-month probation period.

The Charity operates a Pension Scheme that meets the requirements of automatic enrolment which, if eligible, you will be enrolled into. There is no contracting-out certificate in force.
