WHEREAS, This semester will be the 55th semester of the Kiosk and the fifth year that Student Senate has helped fund the magazine. Kiosk consistently wins prestigious awards and over the past 27 years has been featured in The National Student Show, Communication Arts, Behance, and the Kansas City AIGA Design Awards, and
WHEREAS, Kiosk serves as an immeasurable draw for potential students and is an essential cornerstone of the status and reputation of the KU Design Department, and
WHEREAS, KIOASK is seeking funding to Print 950 Copies to distribute to contributors and students across the greater Lawrence community. Any money leftover is for the purpose of a launch party, and
WHEREAS, With this money Kiosk wishes to attract students across campus to submit work through posters and advertisements.Act as positive exposure and portfolio pieces for students studying graphic design, English, fine arts, illustration, architecture and photography, and

A BILL TO FUND OBOE STUDIO CLUB
WHEREAS, the Preamble to the Student Senate Rules and Regulations states, The KU Student Senate shall work to enhance the learning experience of all KU students both in and out of the classroom, and
WHEREAS, the Student Senate shall work to build a vital and thriving University community encompassing students, faculty, staff, and administration. The Student Senate shall work to strengthen ties between the University community and all the residents of Lawrence and the State of Kansas, and
WHEREAS, the University of Kansas Oboe Studio Club is open to all individuals who are interested in keeping informed about events of the University of Kansas Oboe Studio and,
WHEREAS, the Oboe Studio Club is hosting an event called the Annual Double Reed Festival. The purpose of the Double Reed Festival is the enhance the art of double reed playing by inviting distinguished performers of the oboe and bassoon to present master classes and a recital. The Festival also offers reed-making classes in both instruments and host vendors who display instruments, tools, music and other supplies. The festival assists teachers and students of double reed instruments to attain high standards of performance and encourages the cooperation and exchange of ideas throughout the Midwest and,
WHEREAS,the Double Reed Festival will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Murphy Hall on the University of Kansas Campus from 10 AM-9 PM and will include an oboe master class, a bassoon master class, reed making classes, demonstrations by instrument technicians and a gala recital and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew Parker, professor of oboe, University of Texas-Austin and Jeffrey Lyman, professor of bassoon at the University of Michigan have agreed to serve as visiting guest artists and will each give one, two-hour master class and perform on the gala recital. Carlos Coelho of Carlos Coelho Woodwinds is a service technician and will present a clinic on instrument maintenance and care. Likewise, Justin Miller of Miller Marketing will present a similar clinic for bassoonists and,
WHEREAS, the event is open to all students at the University of Kansas and members of the community.Additional funds are being supplied by Lorée Oboe Company and the Midwest Double Reed Society in the amount of $2,212. Funding was requested from the School of Music but because of the recent austere State budget cuts, no funding from School of Music was available and,
WHEREAS, Oboe Studio Club is requesting $1833 to help cover the cost of the Festival.
