Motorcycling Australia (MA) is calling for applications from riders to be a part of the Australian Team to compete in the 2013 Motocross of Nations. There are three team places: MX1, MX2 and Open. This year there is no maximum age for the MX2 class. The Team Manager is once again Mr Gary Benn.
The time away will be approximately 8 days. Travelling dates are still to be confirmed.

Motocross of Nations Rules and Regulations
The rules and regulations of the Motocross of Nations may vary from national and other international events; it is important that riders understand these rules and regulations which can be obtained from www.fim.ch

Selection Criteria
The General Selection Policy as contained in GCR 29 of the 2013 Manual of Motorcycle Sport will be applied for the selection of the 2013 Australian Team. The Motocross Commission will recommend three (3) riders to the MA Board for final approval.
29.1.3 General Selection Policy
29.1.3.1 Each discipline selection committee may at its discretion apply specific objective criteria according to the requirements of the particular discipline.
29.1.3.2 In general terms, each committee will make selections with regard to but not restricted by:
a) A rider’s fitness subject to a medical examination by a medical practitioner appointed or approved by MA.
b) Results attained in the relevant National Championship of the selection year in question (i.e. 2012).
c) Results attained in international and World championships of the year prior to and during the year of selection.
d) The Rider’s behaviour as outlined in the code of conduct in relation to previous selections and dealings with administrators.
e) The rider’s ability to adapt to a team oriented environment.
f) The Riders record in relation to any appearances before any state or national tribunal.
g) The availability of the rider to compete in the relevant World Championship.
h) The willingness of the rider to sign the Riders contract with MA.
i) Whether a rider has incurred a previous ban by failing a drug test conducted in accordance with the Anti Doping policy of Motorcycling Australia.
j) The potential of a rider to represent Australia on a long term basis.
k) The availability of machinery to a potential candidate.
l) Note: Riders must be Australian citizens to qualify for selection
Results obtained in Motocross such as State Championships or other significant open events within Australia, will also be taken into selection consideration, where expert riders of National level with similar abilities are competing against each other. Please note that the complete selection policy is contained in chapter 29 of the 2013 Manual of Motorcycle Sport.
