Monday May 23rd

?? am Arrive at the Ohio University Inn (OU Inn) from Newark

Meet with Athens Rotary Club GSE Hosting Committee members (host families?)

12:00 NoonAttend (present program) Athens Rotary Meeting @ OU Inn

1:30–6:00 pmTour cultural sights of interest in Athens and surrounding area

The Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center, a world renowned visual arts center. They will preview the internationally exhibited "quilt national". This exhibition features the best of quilt art from around the world.
The Kennedy Museum of American Arts located in the historic Athens Insane Asylum. The exhibition we will see there is the Southwestern Native American Art collection.
Travel to Nelsonville to tour the recently renovated 19th century Nelsonville Opera House and visit the various galleries on the square.

6:00Return to OU Inn to be picked up by host families.

MONDAY NOTES: I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE NEWARK CLUB AS TO WHEN THEY PLAN TO HAVE THE TEAM IN ATHENS. THE TEAM CAN LEAVE THEIR LUGGAGE AT THE OU INN WHILE THEY ARE ON THE TOUR. SUSAN URANO WILL BE HOSTING THE TOUR OF ATHENS AND NELSONVILLE. SHE NEEDS TO “FIRM UP” THE ITINERARY OF HER TOUR INCLUDING ESTIMATED RETURN TIME TO THE OU INN SO THAT THE HOST FAMILIES CAN PICK UP THEIR GUESTS.

Tuesday May 24th

8:30-12:00Tour of Ohio University

Stops include the Convocation Center which houses the athletics department; Walter Hall, the recently opened state of the art lecture hall; the new student union building currently under construction; and historic Cutler Hall, the oldest building erected for higher education west of the Alleghenies and north of the Ohio River, where they will meet Ohio University President, Dr. Roderick McDavis.

1:00-5:00 pmIndividual Vocational Tours

Rachel Byrne- Meet with Athens City Chief of Police and Athens PD officer Ric Crossen, who is the DARE officer for the city. Travel with Officer Crossen as he visits local schools; Visit Hocking College in Nelsonville to tour their Correctional Officers training program. Hosted by: Mark Bisang, AM Club.

Ruth Richter- Visit HAVAR, which is a non profit organization that provides to citizens with disabilities serving Athens and Washington Counties; with developmental disabilities. Visit Passion Works Studio which is housed within a sheltered workshop providing services for adults with developmental disabilities and meet Artist-in-Residence Patty Mitchell. Hosted by: ??

Amanda Wunderlich- Meet with Andrew Kreutzer, Coordinator of the Sports Administration program at Ohio University. Provide a tour of facilities for sporting events and education building for this program. Meet with faculty and graduate students of the program as they prepare for the business of the summer collegiate baseball season. Hosted by: Dave Palmer

Turdy Grice and Martin Shanny - Meet with faculty and administrators at Ohio University College of Business; Visit the Innovation Center, the home of Ohio University's technology business incubator The Innovation Center Program provides incubation services to biotechnology companies, IT companies, and companies that provide services to these two industry sectors. 5:00 pmReturn to OU Inn to be picked up by host families.

6:30-?? pmRotary Club (AM & Noon) Potluck dinner hosted by Mike and Sharon Noel. Swimming, music, dancing.

TUESDAY NOTES: HOST FAMILIES ARE RESPONSIBLE TO HAVE THE TEAM MEMBERS TO THE OU INN. MARY DILES IS LEADING THE TOUR OF CAMPUS. PRESIDENT MCDAVIS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO MEET THE TEAM, AS HE WILL BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY. MARY NEEDS TO “FIRM UP” THE ITINERARY OF HER TOUR. AT THIS POINT, THEY ARE PLANNING TO EAT LUNCH AT THE OAK ROOM WHERE THEY CAN MEET THE VOCATIONAL TOUR HOSTS. WE NEED INDIVIDUAL HOSTS FOR THE OTHER RUTH RICHTER AND ANOTHER HOST FROM THE NOON CLUB FOR GRICE AND SHANNY. THESE TOURS ARE NOT SET IN STONE. FOR INSTANCE, IF THERE IS SOMETHING OF INTEREST FOR THEM TO SEE IN THE MORNING, THEY MIGHT WANT TO START THEIR VOCATIONAL TOUR EARLIER. BUT WE NEED EACH HOST TO “FIRM UP” THE ITINARY OF THEIR VOCATIONAL TOUR.

THE CLUB WILL PROVIDE MEAT AND DRINKS FOR THE POTLUCK. WE NEED SOMEONE FROM EACH CLUB TO HELP COORDINATE THE REST OF THIS EVENT.

WEDNESDAY NOTES: I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE WELLSTON CLUB AS TO WHEN THEY PLAN TO PICK UP AND RETURN THE TEAM TO AND FROM THE OU INN. THE HOST FAMILIES ARE RESPONSIBLE TO DELIVER AND PICKUP UP THE TEAM MEMBERS.

AT THIS TIME, WE HAVE NOTHING PLANNED FOR THE TEAM ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
