AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE AUSTRALIAN RULES CHAMPIONSHIPS

INDIGENOUS FOOTBALL PROGRAMMELBOURNE 21-29 MARCH 2015

1. An indigenous player program will be conducted as part of the ADFAR 2015 National Carnival Championships. This program has very strong support from the ADF Sports Council, Defence People Group Directorate of Indigenous Affairs and corporate sponsors. The aim of the program is to promote indigenous football across the ADF and provide development opportunities for indigenous ADF personnel through sport. As such, a number of activities and engagement opportunities will be held in Melbourne over the period 21-29 March 2015, including:

a. a game against AFL Vic Fitzroy Stars indigenous football club on 26 Mar 15;

b. training and engagement with Fitzroy Stars players and coaches;

c. training and mentoring with former and current AFL indigenous players (Nathan Lovett-Murray (former Essendon) will participate as an Ambassador to our ADF program);

d. training with and visit to Richmond Football Club Indigenous Program and training opportunity at Punt Rd;

e. official visit to the MCG and photo opportunity at Etihad Stadium; and

f. official visit to St Kilda Football Club.

2. Selected personnel are to arrive in Melbourne NLT 1600h Sat 21 Mar 15 and will be released at 0900h Sun 29 Mar 15. ADFAR has confirmed that players and officials will be accommodated and rationed at Simpson Barracks. Flight arrangements for selected personnel are to be arranged by the Team Manager IAW ADFAR processes. Transport assets for the team have been confirmed for the duration of the activity and will be under the control of the team manager.

3. All other management, administrative and financial requirements are as laid down in the ADFAR 2015 National Carnival.

4. A team/participant list will be provided to the Team Manager once final attendance and Service release is confirmed.

6. The 2015 indigenous football program is an important inaugural activity in promoting indigenous football development for ADF members. Maximum support and attendance is requested from the three Services to ensure this foundation program can be built on for future years.
