FLIR ReleasesGriffin 844Desktop Trace Detectorfor Enhanced Security Screening

Cutting-Edge Mass Spectrometer Provides Lower Operational False Alarm Rate

WILSONVILLE, OR–October 12, 2015–FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) today announced therelease of the Griffin844, the latest additionto its leading-edge Griffin 800-series desktop chemical trace detector product lineused by security officials to screenpersonal belongings, parcels, cargo, skin, vehicles, and other surfaces for explosives and narcotics threats. The Griffin 844delivers a significantly lower false alarm rate than other offerings, offers expandability to address future threats without impacting sensitivity, and ensures fast and reliable clear-down to maximize availability.

Significantly Lower False Alarm Rate

Built around FLIR’s exclusive mass spectrometry (MS) technology, the Griffin 844 provides much higher resolution compared to existing ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) technology, resulting in improved chemical selectivity. As a result, the Griffin 844 yieldssignificantly lowerfalse alarm rates, providing confidence to security officers that only true threats are detected.

Expandable Threat Library

The Griffin 844performs dual-mode detectionfor a range of current threats, including military, commercial, and home-made explosives, as well ascommonly abused narcotics and synthetic drugs. FLIR’s expandable library allows new threats to be added to the library without impacting sensitivity or false alarm rates. FLIR offers free updates to its Griffin libraryas they become available, providingcustomers with a future-proof solution that addresses emerging threats.

Maximum Operational Availability

FLIR’s menu-based GSS Touch™ application eliminates data interpretation and streamlines checkpoint operations. The Griffin 844’s innovative system designensures fast and reliable clear-down that prevents lengthy bake-outs and minimizes maintenance to maximize operational availability. It uses a non-radioactive ionization source to eliminate associated costs and logistics. lightweight, portable desktop system

“We are proud to offer the Griffin 844, the only desktop trace detector that uses gold-standard, mass spectrometry detection technology in checkpoint screening applications to drive higher accuracy,” said Dennis Barket, Jr., Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Detection. “FLIR is leading the field with lower false alarms and quick clear-downtoensure public safety and operational efficiency.”

The Griffin 844 will be showcased at the AUSA Exposition on October 12-14 in Washington, DC and isnow available for purchase through FLIR or established distribution networks. For more information on the Griffin 844, visit:
