ADMINISTRATION AND TRANSPORT OFFICER

The Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations - New York invites applications for the position of Administration and Transport Officer.

The terms of employment will be in accordance with the Conditions of Service and New York-Based Staff Employee Handbook. Employment will be offered on a contract basis for an initial period of 12 months. The starting salary will be US$38,236 per annum. Continued employment is subject to successful completion of a 6 month probation period.

The position is being offered for employment in New York.

The Australian Consulate General – New York will arrange the necessary work authorisation for the successful applicant should he/she be a non-US citizen or non-US Permanent Resident. The applicant must possess a valid US driver license.

The Permanent Mission of Australia will not be responsible for any costs incurred when applying for a US visa, relocations costs, nor the return of the officer and family to their country of origin at the end of the contract.

Job Description

This position plays a supporting role providing driving services to the Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations. This position will also provide a range of administrative support services for the Permanent Mission, assisting other staff and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Permanent Mission.

Tasks and Functions

  1. Monitor the Permanent Mission email and fax machine, distributing documents to relevant staff.
  2. Assist with events including researching contacts, faxing invitations and following up on RSVP’s
  3. Clerical work including filing, photo copying and printing.
  4. Assist with the preparation and delivery of mail.
  5. Provide driving services for the Permanent Mission staff.
  6. Make deliveries, collect goods or, where appropriate, arrange for a messenger service to handle these tasks.
  7. Performs other duties as required.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must address all essential selection criteria for applications to be considered.

Essential

1.  Demonstrated high level of organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks.

2.  Must have US driver’s license, excellent driving skills and knowledge of New York City roads & infrastructure.

3.  Excellent communication skills, effective interpersonal skills and takes initiative.

4.  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products including Outlook and Microsoft Word and Excel.
