AusIMM LinkedIn Moderator Guidelines
The following guidelines outline the roles and responsibilities to be undertaken byAusIMM LinkedIn Group moderators. They also outline the responsibilities and level of support provided by AusIMM Services.
- AusIMM LinkedIn Groups create a network of minerals industry professionals, some within specific sub-regions, and provide members with an opportunity to share or discuss information and ideas relevant to the minerals industry.
- Any work undertaken by AusIMM moderators or contributors is voluntary and unpaid.
- Moderators are encouraged to work together and in conjunction with AusIMM Services to develop, source and post information relevant to members in theirregion as well as the broader membership.
- Moderating an AusIMM LinkedIn Group does require a time-commitment from members however in return moderating will raise your profile and credibility on LinkedIn, provide you with the opportunity to receive feedback and opinion on matters important to you and increase your professional network.
MOderator - Roles and Responsibilities
Moderators are encouraged to:
- Spent time moderating the group on a daily or weekly basis.
- Meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to discuss the group or plan future activity.
- Post a weekly discussion—share your own insights as well as valuable content you discover online.
- Post a weekly question.
- Comment on existing discussions - this will almost always create activity.
- Encourage engagement through questions and feedback requests.
Do:
- Post relevant and engaging articles or topics for information and discussion.
- Start and sustain conversations, don’t feel afraid to comment on your own discussion threads.
- Welcome new members to the group and encourage them to contribute and engage in discussion.
- Try and bring people back on-topic when they stray off-topic in a particular discussion.
- Delete offensive or unprofessional comments or articles or refer these back to AusIMM Services if you are unsure.
- Remove spam and spammers i.e. advertising, one-way link posts, bulk messages.
- Move jobs and promotions from the main discussion page to relevant tabs where appropriate.
- Ensure you obey copyright laws at all times and credit information where necessary.
don’t:
- Allowmultiple posts of the same item – these should be removed promptly.
- Allow off-topic or solicitation poststo remain on the discussion page.
- Post or allow offensive, slanderous, unprofessional or explicit posts at any time.
- Promote your company, product or yourself or allow others to self-promote.
- Post spamor allow members who spam to remain in the group.
- Include confidential or personal information on LinkedIn Group pages.
Ausimm - Roles and Responsibilities
- AusIMM Services is responsible for creating, branding and maintain AusIMM LinkedIn Groups. Any member wishing to create an AusIMM LinkedIn Group must first seek approval from AusIMM Services.
- AusIMM Services maintains management rights and monitors AusIMM LinkedIn Groups and can assign or remove moderation and management duties from members at anytime.
- AusIMM Services may promote AusIMM events, publications or information to members via AusIMM LinkedIn Groups and in particular sub-region specific items i.e. networking events.
- All costs associated with maintaining AusIMM LinkedIn Groups are born by AusIMM Services.
breachES – general
- A breach of these guidelines by any moderator or contributor may result in a ban from use of AusIMM LinkedIn Groups. In the case of a serious breach, such as passing on sexually explicit, racist, morally offensive or slanderous material, an offender will be immediately reported to The AusIMM Code of Ethics Committee. Pending investigation the offender may be the subject of disciplinary action under this process.
