Service specification & PGD for national Flu Vaccination Service now available.

The service specification and Patient Group Direction (PGD) for the community pharmacy Flu Vaccination Advanced Service 2016/17 have today been published.
The specification and PGD set out information about provision of the service and they should be read alongside PSNC’s detailed guidance on the service (also published today).

The documents explain what community pharmacy contractors need to do to offer the service, including how to confirm that their premises are appropriate, pharmacist training and Declaration of Competence requirements, data capture and sharing of information, vaccine storage, gaining patient consent, GP notification and claiming payments.

Pharmacists who provide the flu vaccination service must have completed practical training in vaccination that meets the necessary requirements. Learn more about training requirements for this year's national service HERE.
NHSE has also developed an e-learning package which can be accessed online HERE. Full information regarding this years’ service is available on the PSNC website

Flu Vaccination Service promotional poster on its way to pharmacies.
All community pharmacy contractors in England are being sent a Flu Vaccination Service poster to help promote the national service to patients.Based on last year’s poster, PSNC is distributing an A3poster in the center of our Community Pharmacy News (CPN) magazine forcommunity pharmacies to display. The poster is double-sided so can be stuck on a window for maximum effect.
CPN is due to be mailed within the Pharmacy Magazine pack as usual but contractors are warned that, due to the August bank holiday, this may not arrive until the first few days of September.Print off the Flu Vaccination Service promotional poster attached below or to download:click here.

August 2016 Price Concessions and NCSOAugust 12, 2016

The Department of Health granted the following price concessions for August2016:The price concessions apply only to the month that it is granted. To view all the relevant info - Click here:
Contractors will be alerted to any updates through our website and via our e-news email. If you wish tosubscribe to our email list, you can receive an email as soon as any announcements are made. Please note that PSNC cannot provide details of generic products that are suspected of being affected by generic supply problems unless and until the Department of Health grants a concession. No additional endorsements are required for price concessions.
If you have problems obtaining a Part VIII product or problems obtaining the product at the set Drug Tariff price, pleasereport the issue to PSNC using the online feedback form on the PSNC Website.
If you have been able to source the product, please provide full details of the supplier and price paid. PSNC will investigate the extent of the problem and ifappropriate discuss the issue with the Department of Health.Any further concessions will be posted here onthe website.

Pharmacy opening hours over the Christmas & New Year period 2016-17.

If your pharmacy* wishes to change their core or supplementary hours across the Christmas and New Year, the relevant template must be completed and returned by email to Sallygiving at least 90 days’ notice. *Please note that it has been agreed for Boots pharmacies that all requests are submitted by the Area Managers and not via individual pharmacies.All information including the necessary forms are now available on our web site for your convenience.

CPPE: EHC Emergency Contraceptive Training September 2016.

This workshop in September is now available for booking on the CPPE website.CPPE are running this event in collaboration with Somerset LPC and the Public Health team at Somerset Country Council. This event forms part of the training required to offer an EHC service in Somerset community pharmacies. For pharmacists in Somerset providing the EHC service under the PGD, it is a requirement as part of your declaration of competence, that you attend this face to face workshop every 4 years

The workshop is also open to pre- registration pharmacists so they are “service- ready” when qualified and to pharmacy technicians as a valuable piece of CPD.

CPPE: Polypharmacy Focal Point Training

As part of the CPPE Polypharmacy campaign, we are running Polypharmacy focal point workshops in Somerset. These workshops will introduce you to models and tools to support and review patients receiving multiple medicines using a patient centered approach. Dates are as follows:
