The Club’s Newest Paul Harris Fellow

Connie Sparks presented Kathryn Pearce with recognition for her attaining Paul Harris Fellow status. She then noted that the District was awarding Kathryn Paul Harris Plus 1 status in honor of Kathryn’s contributions to the local rotary, the District Rotary and to the International Rotary.

Connie noted that Kathryn is a past president of the Lancaster Hempfield Rotary Club and a major contributor to the District meeting held in Lancaster this past year. She has been active in the GSE program, both as a participant and a planner/recruiter. Finally, she has served on two humanitarian missions to South America. Congratulations to Kathryn!!!!!

Program: Kathryn Pearce and Melissa Crognale gave a video presentation of their recently completed humanitarian mission to Brazil. The mission had three components: dental assistance, optical assistance and safe drinking water. Kathryn served in the optical part of the project and Melissa provided dental assistance to the poor who came in large numbers to be treated during the mission. The video showed the work of the participants from the U S, Brazil, Denmark and Japan. It is truly amazing how much is accomplished during a 10 day mission given the meager facilities available to the team. Both Kathryn and Melissa said that the experience will always be a part of their memories. Connie Sparks, directed the Mission, and stated that the District is planning another mission this year and hopes that the Club will be able to participate.

The Lancaster Hempfield Rotary Club provided support for many organizations and programs during the last fiscal year. The following table details the contributions. Note that $19,748.85 was donated to the community and to international projects.
