Audlen House Discovery Club is holiday care for school children aged from reception plus.
The Club is conveniently situated within easy walking distance of Thatcham town centre. There is a railway station and bus stops in Station Road; therefore accessibility to nearby towns is easy.
The Club is registered with Ofsted for 8 children to attend at any one time and the age range catered for is school children from reception plus.
Audlen House Discovery Club is open between 8.30am -5.30pm, throughout the school holidays. We are closed on Bank Holidays and the Christmas Period.
The club is a strictly NO SMOKING building and we ask that you do not smoke anywhere on the clubs premises.

· The Aims of Audlen House Discovery Club
We aim to provide an environment in which the children are happy, cared for and given a wide range of activities. Working as a team, we will encourage the children to become confident, independent individuals who are polite, respectful of others and their surroundings and have the necessary skills to enable them to develop further and while doing so having fun!
· Behaviour Policy
All the children will be taught a sense of right and wrong, to have mutual respect, develop caring personal relationships and to have good manners. There will be positive reinforcement for good behaviour through encouragement and praise. It will however be inevitable that during the learning process of having relationships that the children will have occasional conflicts but these will be approached in a firm, kind and consistent manner by all the staff having taken account of the understanding level of the children concerned. We uphold the NO SMACKING policy and the staff at Audlen House will never use methods of discipline that result in physical, nutritional or emotional injury.
· Equal Opportunities
All of the children at Audlen House will be treated with kindness and consideration and will be recognised as individuals with differing needs. Individual needs will be catered for within the scope of the nursery setting and in so doing all children and adults will be given equality of opportunity having regard for disability, ethnic origin, medical condition, gender, special educational need, religion, age, sole parenthood or marital status.
· Parental Involvement
Parents and carers are welcome to spend time with their child during the settling in period if they wish and all parents and carers will be kept up to date with any information concerning their child through direct communication from staff, newsletters and notices on the Notice Boards. We are always happy to spend time answering any questions you may have or special requests you wish to have considered and you can make an appointment to see a senior member of staff to discuss matters in greater detail at a time more convenient to both. A copy of the Policies and Procedures for the Discovery Club is available for you to look at.
· Admissions Policy
Holiday places are subject to availability and staffing levels, with equality of access to places as outlined in our Equal Opportunities Policy. Due to limited availability and a high demand for places early booking is recommended. If the Discovery club is full your child’s name will be put on our waiting list, and as soon as a place becomes available the child at the top of the list will be offered the place.
After your child’s initial registration, and when you have booked and paid the deposit for your child, we can arrange for yourself & your child to meet the staff (time permitting) to have an informal chat to exchange information about your child. We do reserve the right to suspend a place where there has been a breech of our Terms and Conditions or where a relationship may have broken down between the club, the parents/carers or child.
· Dietary Requirements
If your child attends a morning or all day session, please provide your children with a packed lunch, which must be stored in a suitable container. No fizzy drinks, chocolate, sweets or nuts please. Fresh water is available at all times. In a morning sessions Fresh Fruit & Biscuits are provided, for afternoon sessions a snack tea is provided. Please advise us of an allergies or dietary requirements.
· Fees
Please make cheques payable to ‘Audlen House Day Nursery’. The balance of sessions booked will need to be paid on receipt of your invoice. If payment is by post please send to Audlen House Day Nursery, 131 Station Road, Thatcham, RG19 4QH. We are able to take payment with child care vouchers. There are no reductions for absences including sickness or holidays. Review of the fees normally takes place to include increases each September, but we reserve the right to increase fees at other times should the need arise, but at least one calendar month notice will be given.
· Staffing and Supervision
The children will be supervised at all times, both indoors and outdoors. At least 50% of the staff have a relevant childcare qualification. In addition, there will always be a first aider on duty.
The staffing ratios are 5years – 8 years = 1 staff: 8 Children
· Security
Entry to the Discovery Club is via a doorbell system to request access.
· Car Park
We ask that you be mindful of other cars, babies and children in the car park at all times. Always park responsibly with consideration for others. Do not park on the highway, as this will cause an obstruction to pedestrians and other road users, which would compromise the safety of your child and others.

Opening Times / Discovery ClubFees
8.30am -5.30pm / £25.00
All children must be collected from Audlen House Discovery Club by a responsible adult who is known to the club. All children must be collected before the end of the session. Where the collection of the child is after closing time or a session is over run, there will be a fine imposed of £10.00 CASH for each 15 minutes or part thereof. This late fine is paid directly to the staff that has been inconvenienced and has had to stay behind to wait with your child.
