How to use your online textbook –

  1. Log-in. On your home page, you have various options. On the right-hand side are some navigation bars. The bottom two are for you to use as you see fit – there’s a dictionary, a news feed, etc. The top one is ‘From My Teacher’ – check this each time you log on to see if there are any notices from your teacher.
  2. The major feature you need on your home page is your online textbook. Click it to enter.
  3. Look at the screen shot below.
  4. Across the top, at ‘a’, are the general resources. You can find:
  5. the glossary – both Spanish to English and English to Spanish
  6. Resources, which has
  7. additional vocabulary
  8. grammar review
  9. verbs
  10. useful conversation expressions
  11. study tips
  12. Why Study Spanish?
  13. and a few other resources
  14. a flashcards link (which works when you have clicked into a chapter). You can also print from this menu, and navigate through pages.

b. ‘b’ has the links to each chapter.

c. ‘c’ shows the breakdown within each chapter. Here you can see the various sections of the chapter, so you can go directly to the review section (A ver si recuerdas), the vocab and review section (Repaso del capítulo), etc. NOTE – if you know the exact page number you want, you can type the number into the View Textbook Page just above ‘c’.

  1. There are many ways the online textbook can help you. Here are a few:
  2. Vocabulary help –click on any word in blue and the computer will tell you what it means and how to pronounce it. There are also flashcards available for each chapter.
  3. Additional vocabulary – for those who want to expand their learning.
  4. Grammar explanations – if you don’t remember what a Direct Object is, for example.
  5. Practice
  6. Online activities – these are varied, and very helpful! For each chapter, you can practice grammar, spelling, reading, listening, etc. The activities are interactive, allowing you to do and then check your work, so that you can evaluate your own understanding of a topic. Your teacher might even assign you activities on your online textbook.
  7. Workbook page access – lost your workbook page? Missed class? You can print any page from the Practice Workbook that you might need – you just have to scroll through the chapter to find it.
  8. At the bottom of several of the ‘pages’, there is a button that says ‘Go Online’ – this button will take you to even more practice if you need it. Again, these are interactive, giving you immediate feedback.
  9. Missed the Videohistoria? Or perhaps the grammar video, GramActiva? You can watch them online – as many times as you need.
  10. Ready for the test? You will be! Choose the Repaso del Capítulo link and you’ll find all sorts of test preparation available – more interactive activities, listening practice, reading practice, etc.
