From the South: Exit NYS Thruway at Exit 23. Follow I-787 North to EmpirePlaza exit.

From the North: Exit Northway at Exit 1. Follow I-90 East to I-787 South to EmpirePlaza exit.

Job Description

Professional modern dancer to be employed, on a part-time basis, as a dancer for The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, Inc. Responsibilities include:

  1. Attend rehearsals in preparation for performances, community outreach and arts education programming. The company rehearses 4 times per week for a total of 17 hours from early July to mid-June.
  1. Learn existing repertory and participate in the creative process with Artistic Dancer/choreographer Ellen Sinopoli and other company dancers in the development of new dances for the company.
  1. Participate in company’s concert season, performing in dances Artistic Director has selected for her/him.
  1. Participate in the company’s arts education programming and residencies to include performances, movement workshops and planning sessions, as needed.
  1. Participate in the company’s other community outreach programming to include teaching technique classes for the general public, performing for special populations, performing in the company’s free concerts and showcases.

The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company is a professional modern company with 6-7 dancers. It is in its 16th season as the resident dance company at The Egg Performing Arts Center in Albany, NY and holds an average of 25-35 performances, community outreach and art education events each year. Touring varies season to season. Dancers work an average of 40-44 weeks per year, rehearsing, performing and teaching. The season runs from mid-July to mid-June. Dancers are paid $75 per performance, $30 per rehearsal and $25 per 1-hour arts education movement workshop. Payment for teaching technique classes to be determined. Dancers are paid semi-monthly. Benefits include workers’ compensation, unemployment, disability insurance, and may also receive discounted health insurance paid by employee.
