RAY KURZWEIL

AUDIO VISUAL REQUIREMENTS

Mr. Kurzweil will show a PowerPoint presentation that includes 4 .mpg movies (one of which has sound). He will need both the audio and visual projected to the audience. Nanda Barker-Hook will FedEx a CD copy of the PowerPoint file and movie files to you in advance of the conference.

1) Advanced Audio/Visual Tests: As we have experienced some problems in displaying the movies with some projectors, we would like for your a/v staff to load the PowerPoint file onto a conference computer and test it using the actual conference projection system in advance of the conference. It is essential that this advanced test be done with the actual projection system that will be used for Mr. Kurzweil's live presentation, as we have experienced some compatibility problems in the past. Ken Linde, Mr. Kurzweil's IT Manager (781-263-0000 x223) should speak directly with the a/v person in charge of doing this, so that he can explain some of the nuances and confirm that everything is working optimally. The tests should be done with the final audio/visual configuration that will be used for Mr. Kurzweil's presentation.

2) Audio/Visual check with Mr. Kurzweil, one hour before presentation: Mr. Kurzweil will need the assistance of an a/v staff person for his a/v check at least one hour prior to the doors opening for his presentation. Please have the PowerPoint open and cached, and the computer hooked up to the projector so that everything is ready to be tested upon Mr Kurzweil's arrival.

3) Kurzweil designated computer: Even with the advanced tests, we once experienced a problem caused by multiple speakers using the conference computerduring the time between Mr. Kurzweil's a/v test and his actual presentation. In order to avoid this, if feasible, we'd like the conference to designate a computer for the sole use of projecting Ray's PowerPoint. If this in not feasible, please arrange for no one to use the laptop in between Mr. Kurzweil's a/v test and his presentation. The configuration that is used during the a/v check one hour prior to the presentation must be the same as the configuration for the live presentation.

4) Kurzweil to control advancement of PowerPoint slides: Mr. Kurzweil skips back and forth through a large number of slides, therefore it is important that he control them directly from the conference computer at the podium. (Some conferences have set him up with a button that flashes a light back stage to a person who advances the slides and this has not worked well.)

5) Equipment requirements:

- a wireless lavalier clip-on microphone

- a wireless mouse to allowRay to move away from the podium while controlling his slides

- a VGA monitor placed in front of Ray (close to the big screen) so that he can view his slides while away from the laptop and in front of the big screen

- 9' x 12' screen (size depends on audience and room size)

- Professional projector

- VGA cable to connect the laptop to the projector

- 1/8" mini stereo headphone adaptor to connect the laptop to your audio system
