ATTENTION PARENTS:
The recital will conclude our dance year. Fall classes will resume in mid-August. Students will be notified by mail in July as to Fall registration. Sign up now for the summer activities (see separate note).
A few REMINDERS first:
*All recital fees (separate from costume fees) were due March 24 ($80 per family).
*After Beyond the Stars Dance Competition (April 6-8), there will be no more private polishing lessons or competition group rehearsals
*May tuition will be the same as always except for those in Tumbling or those in Ballet Tech and NOT in the Wonka Ballet.
*Ballet Tech Observation Days are the week of April 16
*Tumbling and AcroObservation Day is May 5
*Picture Days are is Sat., May 19 and Sun., May 20

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Please look below in the column on the left for all your class(es), look to the column
on the right for the times your child comes to rehearsals.
- Please have dancers attend all rehearsals for all classes enrolled.
- STAGE REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY!!! Studio rehearsals are very close to mandatory. If necessary, you may need to rearrange other activities or carpool or ask a relative to drive your dancer to these important rehearsals. We only have one recital per year and we want it to be the best it can be. Help your child and her/his class do their best by not missing these important rehearsals.
- For studio rehearsals, please do not stay as there will be too many people to accommodate.A parent/guardian MUST attend stage rehearsals with children as we will not be watching them the entire time they are there.
- As per your contract at the beginning of the year, each weekly class has received at least 31 lessons, plus at least one studio and one stage rehearsal or additional rehearsals have been added.

REHEARSAL INFORMATION
- THERE IS NO DRESS REHEARSAL. Do not wear costumes to rehearsals, just dancewear.
- Again, stage rehearsals are mandatory and children must have a parent or guardian with them at stage rehearsals. We will not be able to watch them at all times.
- You may want to bring snacks to the stage rehearsals for older children who will be there a while, but DO NOT eat or drink in the auditorium (backstage is fine). There will be a concession stand at the recital.
- Do not let your child go to the bathroom or wander around alone. Anyone could be there when it is unlocked to the public.
- No one will be allowed in the balconies during rehearsals for safety reasons.
- Bring a jacket, sweater or blanket to rehearsal. The auditorium may be cold when it is not filled up.
DIRECTIONS TO THE CANNON CENTER:(from Bartlett) Take I-40 toward Memphis. Go straight and follow Sam Cooper when I-40/240 veers off. Turn Right on East Parkway at the end of Sam Cooper. Turn Left on North Parkway. Turn Left on Front Street. Turn into the parking garage on the left at the near corner of the Cook Convention Center building.
OR Take I-40 and follow through 240 juncture going toward Little Rock. Take Exit 1A at 2nd/3rd street. It will place you on 2nd street. Turn Right on Poplar, Right on Front St and the parking garage will be on the far corner of the building.
Once in the garage, go to opposite end of garage. Enter thru the South Exhibit Hall. Go to the left and you’ll see escalators. Go up escalators, go straight down hall to end. Go right at end of large hallway (corner of Main & Poplar). You’ll be in the lobby of the Cannon Center. (Handicap access: as entering South Exhibit Hall the Elevators are to right)
RECITAL INFORMATION
YOUNG CLASSES, KIDS HOP and HIP HOP (those with only 1 or 2 dances):
- Preschool children will be given a nametag at the stage rehearsal. Please bring it to the recital to aid the line up moms. Don’t wear the nametag.
- Children should be dressed for their first routine and in their dressing room 6 dances before theirs. Boys should meet their class outside the girls dressing room 5 dances before theirs. (if yours is within the first 6 dances of the show, be in dressing room and ready 15 minutes before show).
- The line up moms will get them in order and on stage for their first dance. Only line up moms may come to the stage area. Don’t hang around too long, as your child needs time to adjust to being away from their parents before dancing.
- After they perform, mothers should quickly go to dressing rooms to change them, then cover up to go watch in the audience.
- Return to the dressing room 6 dances before your next dance and repeat steps 2 and 3 (if yours is within 6 dances of the Willy Wonka Ballet, we will tell you during stage rehearsals at what point you need to return).
- You may pick up your child after the second dance and take your child to the audience (with a cover-up over the costume ).
- Return to the dressing room 6 dances before the end of the show (in costume). Line up moms will bring them to the stage for the finale. If their second dance is near the end of the show, we may keep them backstage for the finale. This will be announced at the stage rehearsals.
- After the finale, come get your child from the stage.
SEATING ARRANGEMENTS: Please do not walk around in the auditorium during a dance. Move between dances. The dancers as well as the audience should be respected at the theatre. This is part of what I try to teach the children. DO NOT WAVE AT YOUR CHILD WHILE HE/SHE IS PERFORMING. Do not let children (including non-dancers) sit in the aisles. It distracts the dancers and more importantly is a safety hazard. Please watch children closely if you go into the balcony. Please be considerate of our video company and stay away from their cameras. There will be a few reserved seats for the line-up moms on the front row. Please do not sit there unless you are a line-up mom and you are watching your class dance.
- NO ONE may enter the audience prior to 30 minutes before the shows begins (except stagehands, staff and the video company). If you arrive before then, you may go to the backstage areas and dressing rooms but you will not be allowed in the audience. We musthave this time to get set up.
- You may not use the doors at the front of the auditorium. You will need to use the back doors to exit the auditorium and walk around to the dressing rooms. We don’t want people walking in front of the audience constantly. (Line-up moms only may use the front doors.)
- All audience members (and their belongings) with multiple shows to attend must leave the theatre after each show and re-enter at the 30 min mark.Any items left in the audience between shows will be taken to lost and found.
- There is ample seating for everyone. You mayNOTsave seats before a show or from one show to the next. (There will be some reserved seats for line-up moms, and official workers, etc. posted by Mrs. Tracy only.)
BACKSTAGE:For the security of our dancers, only those essential to helping dancers and staff will be allowed in the backstage areas.Please don’t bring visitors or siblings to the backstage areas. Feel free to use the grand lobby to visit and take pictures! Only one same sex guardian per dancer will be admitted to the dressing areas.
DRESSING ROOMS: For the show,each class will be assigned a dressing room and doors marked (feel free to take your child’s “star” after the show).Do not dress or apply make-up in the theatre or bathrooms.
VIDEO TAPING OF RECITAL:
We will have a professional production company taping our recital. To order a video, please fill out form in the recital folder and return to studio or video table at the recital. I highly recommend you buy a video as the company does a good job. I have heard it makes great entertainment for the kids all summer. You will pick up your videos at the studio this summer. Give it 4-6 weeks then call us and we will leave expected date on the answering machine.
If you video with your own camera, you MUST use a battery and not plug into an outlet. You must stand against the side walls or sit in your seat to video tape (no tripods). You may not stand up in the seats or aisles as it blocks other parents from seeing and is a safety hazard. Feel free to take snapshots (again from your seat or the side walls). Remember the video is of the entire show and not highlighting your child so if you want close ups, bring your own camera.
ACCESSORIES AND DETAILS:
Undergarments: DO NOT WEAR PANTIES UNDER COSTUMES (tights ARE your underwear). Boys should wear tight briefs. Girls who need one should wear a bra. Pin straps under costume so they won’t show or wear clear straps.
