G.C.I.C. Sports Day

Attention Coaches- changes have been made!

  1. Directors should be able to provide the following information for each student representing their school in the event of illness, injury or unsportsmanlike issues involving campus police: name, student ID, phone and emergency contact name/phone.
  1. The coaches’ meeting will begin at 9:00am on Sports Day, roll call at 9:45am and events starting at 10:00am.
  1. Roll Call- Roll call will take place at 9:45am in the Main Gym. ALL STUDENTS AND DIRECTORS ARE TO BE IN ATTENDANCE. At this time all entries will be CONFIREMED VIA “ROLL CALL” to establish tournament brackets. After roll call and announcements students are to go directly to the areas that their events will be conducted.

Late arrivals – If you have an emergency and you are going to be later than 9:00am, if you call the host school by 8:30am and can confirm how many participants you are going to have in each event, you will be included in the events If the director has not called in his/her entries by 8:30am or students/teams do not attend roll call and answer as present when called upon they WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY INTO THE DAYS EVNTS. NO EXCEPTIONS.Again if you do not call the host school by 8:30am or are not present at roll call, you will NOT be allowed entry into the day’s events.

  1. The goal for Sports Day is to bring students together from the participating G.C.I.C. schools for an enjoyable day of competition in a wide variety of sports.
  1. To be eligible to participate, a student must be enrolled for at least one (1) credit hour or one (1) student clock hour. Continuing education students are NOT eligible for participation in GCIC Sports Day.
  1. If an individual has represented a college intercollegiate team or a professional team (i.e., received aid; practiced and or played on a team) that individual cannot play in that particular sport at Sports Day. Intercollegiate baseball/ softball players cannot play on the softball team. Also, anyone who is playing on a U.S.V.B.A. “A” level team cannot play on the Sports Day volleyball team. Students are only allowed to play in one sporting event on each Sports Day.If a student has practiced as a part of an intercollegiate basketball or soccer team or received aid to play intercollegiate basketball or soccer, they may not play at Sports Day in the three on three basketball or soccer tournament.
  1. In as many events as possible schools will try to offer a round robin tournament format to maximize playing time for everyone. In events where it is not possible to do this, a winner-consolation format will be used.
  1. If it rains on the date scheduled for Sports Day all indoor events will be held as usual, all of the outdoor sports will be cancelled. There will be no makeup for the outdoor events. Directors should call Coach Sutton if they have questions regarding weather or cancellation of outdoor events.
  1. Tournament Directors have the right to remove individuals from events for unsportsmanlike conduct.
  1. There is no coaching of players/teams allowed during Sports Day.
  1. ALCOHOL norTOBACCO use is not allowed in any form during Sports Day activities.
  1. Sports Day information packets will be electronically sent to each director no less than 30 days in advance of the Sports Day. Information will also be available at:
