Meeting Notes

* Assessment area: midterm assessment of course

* WebSite

·  too much stuff on top of each page--visually cluttering--takes up a lot of resource

·  is there a training issue? useful to learn from Steve Beyerlein

·  may need funding & professionally designed navigation; may want to get some funding

·  may want to use bullets on resources page

·  who are stakeholders--us? students? sponsors?

·  wiki may help; same issues with web

·  Lloyd would like to train someone this fall

·  may want to have a professional set up a "web shell"

* Workshop Updates

·  Followup workshop on MS Project on 10/17--Renfrew 111

·  Axiomatic design--10/17--Mindworks

·  Solidworks--Workshop I on 10/24; Workshop II on 10/31. Action Item: Lloyd--Check w/ Phil.

·  10/31--IP Workshop--Make this optional, but recommend

·  one team member & have them teach their team.

* team stories & problem solving

·  Tom. Both teams are rotating facilitation of meetings. Interesting to see differences in performances--some students run meets well; some really take charge; some are really positive. A student who is really positive encourage people to say things. To transfer to another team: emphasize learning to run a meeting; keep project management in one person's hands; coach team to develop a strong process.

·  Joe. Developing subteams on NASA project. Team was into heard thinking, but lots of discussion from Austin & others helped people see the benefits. Why heard thinking? Past experiences, want to avoid ownership of blame, natural cycle of development, fear of mistakes. Interesting point ==> our team has not talked about how we do teaming, subteaming, & individual work.
