DISTRIBUTION STATEMENTS, DESTRUCTION NOTICE
ANDEXPORT CONTOL WARNING
1. SCOPE
This attachment provides procedures for marking technical documents to denote the extent to which they are available for secondary distribution.
1.1 Purpose. Distribution statements are used to mark technical documents, including engineering, logistics, and production data. Distribution statement markings are distinct from and in addition to security classification markings.
1.2 Applicability. During TPS/OTPS development, all production, engineering, logistics, and scientific and technical information, regardless of its medium, physical form, or characteristics, including preliminary and working drafts, shall be marked with a distribution statement. This includes technical reports, blueprints, drawings, technical orders, technical manuals, plans, instructions, computer software, viewgraphs, film, technical papers, photographs, etc.

b. DOD 5200.1-R, INFORMATION SECURITY PROGRAM REGULATION, CHAPTER 6 PARAGRAPH 7"
3. MARKING DATA
All distribution statements,destruction notices and export control warnings shall be marked in a conspicuous location on the cover or title page. For those documents not having a cover or title page, the distribution statement shall be on the front page. For data prepared in alternate media format and not having a cover or title page (such as forms and charts), the applicable distribution statement shall be stamped, printed, written, or affixed by other means in a fully visible position.
3.1 Distribution Statements. The Contractor shall use one of the following distribution statements as applicable to the distribution statements identified on the CDRLs.
NOTE: The controlling DoD office shall be the Platform PMA.
DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C: Distribution authorized to U.S. Government Agencies and their contractors. [ fill in reason ]; [ date of determination ]. Other requests shall be referred [_insert name of controlling DoDoffice ].
Example:
DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C: Distribution authorized to U.S. Government Agencies and their contractors. Administrative or Operational, 25 December 2010. Other requests may be referred to the Naval Air Systems Command (PMA-XXX), 47123 Buse Road, IPTBuilding 2272, Room 349, Patuxent River, MD20670-1547.
DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT D. Distribution authorized to Department of Defense (DoD) and DoD contractors only; [ fill in reason ]; [ date of determination ]. Other requests shall be referred [_insert name of controlling DoDoffice ].
Example:

3.2 Destruction Notice
All technical documents marked with Distribution Statements D, E, or F, will also be marked DESTRUCTION NOTICE - FOR CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES IN DOD 5220.22-M, NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY MANUAL, CHAPTER 5, SECTION 7 OR DOD 5200.1-R, INFORMATION SECURITY PROGRAM REGULATION, CHAPTER 6 PARAGRAPH 7. FOR UNCLASSIFIED, LIMITEDDOCUMENTS, DESTROY BY ANY METHOD THAT WILL PREVENT DISCLOSURE OF CONTENTS OR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE DOCUMENT.
3.3 Export Control.
All technical documents which have Distribution Statement F, and as appropriate, D and E, shall be marked "Warning--This document contains technical data whose export is restricted by the Arms Export Control Act (Title 22, U.S.C., Sec 2751 et seq) or Executive Order 12470. Violation of these export laws are subject to severe criminal penalties.
3.4 Samples
The Contractor shall use one of the following distribution statements examples as applicable when technical data, not required as part of a CDRL deliverable, is provided via EDI.

DESTRUCTION NOTICE - FOR CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES IN DOD 5220.22-M, NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY MANUAL, CHAPTER 5, SECTION 7 OR DESTRUCTION NOTICE.FOR UNCLASSIFIED, LIMITED DOCUMENTS, DESTROY BY ANY METHOD THAT WILL PREVENT DISCLOSURE OF CONTENTS OR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE DOCUMENT.
Note: Statement F is generally applicable to classified documents.
