Job Title: Mathematics Teacher

Atlanta Girls’ School is the only independent school for girls in Atlanta, servinggirls in grades 6–12. AGS authentically lives its mission ofinspiring girls to “Be Bold”.Current enrollment is 248 students.

Position Overview

The faculty member will be employed full time, working such hours and carrying out such duties as are normally associated with an educational position (including classroom and non-classroom duties).All faculty members must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have 3-5 years of teaching experience. A Master’s degree in the content area is preferred. Department Chair positions require a Master’s degree, 5-7 years of teaching experience, and demonstrated management and leadership skills in a similar or related role.

Applicants should have demonstrated success in working effectively with students, parents, and colleagues and have a commitment to best practices in teaching and learning. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills,as well as creativity, are desired to join a highly relational and dedicated faculty. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•Experience teaching Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II

•Teach up to five course sections or the equivalent

•Plan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies which support the mission

•Serve as an advisor to a group of 8-12 students

•Attend all required meetings, keep all records, and prepare and file all reports as required and directed by the school

•Create a learning environment that is clean, attractive, safe, positive, caring, and fosters active involvement of all students

•Collaborate within and across departments to enhance the vision of the program

•Integrate technology meaningfully in lessons and units of study

•Apply interdisciplinary learning and differentiation across the curriculum

•Actively engage in the life of the school community and extra-curricular programs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in content area preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate, problem-solving skills, and creativity
  • The position requires the physical and sensory abilities necessary to work in a Middle and Upper School teaching/learning environment, sitting at a desk and moving around the classroom and common areas inside and outside of the school and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Employee must have a valid Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license
