At top speed to the customer:

The readychain truck

Pre-harnessed energy chain systems set to reach machines even faster in future

Cologne, March 25 – igus has been relying on pre-harnessed readychain energy chain systems for around 20 years. To further improve the service for customers throughout Germany, the readychain truck has now hit the road ‘a factory equipped with tools and harnessing table; depending on requirements. The aim of the mobile workshop is to reduce process costs: the readychain truck promotes prototype building and has been proven to shorten the time needed to series maturity.

One of the main issues igus engineers have to deal with is how to get readychain production nearer and faster to the customer without any loss of flexibility or service. igus has already taken one step in the right direction with the telescopic transport and assembly frame readychain-rack. igus designers developed the assembly frame to be able to adjust completely pre-harnessed and tested energy chain systems down to the last millimetre to the interface of the respective machine within only one working day, reducing assembly times and process costs in the long term.

In a second step, the readychain truck is now driving around the country. This is a truck equipped with tools to harness chains according to customer requirements. Workbenches, crimping tools, drills or harnessing tables are always on board, allowing adaptation to be carried out immediately and directly on site.

In addition, there are also plans to use the truck for customer training or presentations. It also allows in-house trade fairs to be organised with a hands-on approach: How to strip cables, put connectors together or fill chains will be presented in a practical way using the mobile workshop in future. This allows customers' technicians to put the individual working steps directly into practice.

Most customers value the benefits of pre-harnessed energy chain systems, because this will allow prototypes for new machine concepts to be built even faster in future. The preparatory work, supported by the igus Skype Service if necessary, is carried out in the readychain factory in Cologne. Then the prototype is delivered on the customer-specific transport and assembly frame in the readychain truck. The igus manager responsible personally, accompanies the respective project: the technician provides support with installation and makes modifications if necessary; the project manager adapts the documentation accordingly.

More major pre-harnessing work is no problem either. Just as the transport and assembly frame can be modified on site, the cable filling can be adapted as well: if the lengths are not quite certain on delivery, the energy chain system is delivered pre-harnessed on one side initially. The lengths of the cables are then specified, installed and documented on the basis of the circumstances at the customer's. The cables, connectors and hoses required are brought along in the truck.

Conclusion: There are more and more reasons for relying on pre-harnessed energy chain systems from igus. With the readychain truck, the factory is always available. All open design tasks and problems are solved directly on site by the project manager. From the prototype to the start of series production: The time required will be reduced even further in future, lowering process costs in the long term.
