Procurement Manager – Japan/Korea

Job Description/Function:

Work with the Business Unit (BU) in assessing/defining sourcing and procurement needs; conducting competitive supplier selection processes, managing supplier selection in accordance with corporate guidelines and in a principled manner;develops and negotiates supplier contracts;manages contract closure, approval and execution in accordance with corporate Schedule of Authorization guidelines; and, proactively manages supplier performance and,the supplier relationship.

Work to leverage procurement and sourcing needs via global, regional, and in-country contracts in negotiations that translate into a competitive advantage and cost savings for the company. Create a sourcing and support strategy for your respective areas.Strategically support and provide thought, planning and execution leadership to the Business Units operating in the manager’s given geographic scope or commodity/supply categories.

Report to Asia Pacific GBOS area management. Effectively work and team with the local, regional and international GBOS Team, the Purchasing & Purchasing Systems Team, Business Units and,relevant management in all initiatives, projects and reporting. Strategically support and provide thought, planning and execution leadershipforindividuals and teams responsible for global, regional or in-country supply chain requirements.

Understands and employs multiple analysis approaches including cost and price analysis, and cost/benefit analysis applying analyses regularly; performing a consulting role for Business Units and other teams.

Necessary Skills/Background:

  1. Five (5) to seven(7) years Work experience in Supplier/Vendor Management at the Procurement managerlevel managing multi-national and global suppliers and contracts.
  2. Several years of work experience in global, multi-national and in-country procurement/contracting for a wide variety of goods and services including, IT and telecommunications goods and services, preferred.
  3. Experienced in the support and leadership ofcomplex multi-national and global procurement projects and teams.
  4. Skilled workload manager with experience in the management and timely completion of multiple, concurrently active, complex multi-national/multiple stakeholder contracting projects in a dynamic environment.
  5. Skilled written and oral communicator with experience communicating with Business Unit management and leadership at all levels.
  6. Speak, read and write Englishwith a high proficiency. Fluency in spoken and written Japanese and Korean. Proficiency in additional, other Asian languages preferred.
  7. Experienced in the development, negotiation and management of complex, high value, global/multi-national supply contracts.
  8. Possesses a working understanding of purchasing/ordering systems.
  9. Experienced in supply chain process development and management.
  10. Possesses a working knowledge and understanding of complex contractual terms and, applicable laws and regulations in Asia Pacific countries.
  11. Possesses a working understanding of import/export regulations in Asia Pacific countries.
  12. College/University Degree [Bachelors or equivalentin Majors such as Business Management, Business Finance or similar areas of study].
  13. Post-Graduate Degree in relevant area of study a plus.
  14. Professional Procurement Certification preferred.
  15. Experienced in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with project and database management software a plus.
