Hospice is a special healthcare option for patients and families who are faced with a terminal illness.South Coast Hospice provides palliative (comfort) care when curative treatment is not longer the patient’s choice.Care takes place in the patient’s home or a home-like setting such as a nursing home and serves patients of all ages.South Coast Hospice views the patient, family and disease process from a holistic perspective addressing the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient and family. At South Coast Hospice, we offer:
· Extension of the patient’s primary care physician to maintain patient comfort.
· Interdisciplinary Team of Hospice certified and trained Nurses, Home Health Aides, Counselors, Social Workers, Chaplain, and Volunteers.
· Comfort Based Care-Professionally trained pain specialists utilizing technologically advanced pain management.
· Respite Care-Time out for family and care givers to address their own needs.
· Personal Assistance-Aides to help with patient's personal care; bathing, hair and nail care, light housekeeping and laundering.
· Twenty-four/seven, On-call Nursing Support-Patient and family can avoid emergency room visits and be assured Hospice will respond when an emergency arises.
