A very special math event for students in grades K-6 will be happening this year at Long Beach High School !
The 24th Annual Family Math Day, in honor of Sandy Cohen, our founder, presented by NCMTA and NCAMS, will be held on
Saturday, March 24, 2012
8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
at Long Beach High School
Join us for a morning of math – contests, activities, fun and learning.
To continue the success of Family Math Day, we need close to 100 presenters. WE NEED YOU! When you say yes, you will be agreeing to present a workshop (once or twice) for a grade level of your choice. Each workshop is 50 minutes long and would be presented to a maximum of 16 families. Workshops should provide interactive, hands on experiences that involve parents and children.
Speakers’ children or grandchildren may attend at no cost.
A complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided for all speakers.
We know that you may incur expenses to present these workshops. Before purchasing any materials, please speak to us about what you need to purchase. We have a tax exempt number and may be able to save some money. With enough lead time, we can purchase the materials and get them to you before Family Math Day. A maximum of $40 will be reimbursed.
If you are unable to copy your packet of activities, please mail the packet to us at least 1 month before FMD.
Please complete the attached form and return it to Lisa by October 23, 2011.
As you know, Family Math Day is a wonderful, exciting event. We would love to bring in new presenters to join our family of speakers. Soooo, if you know of anyone else who would like to participate as a presenter, please copy this letter and form and pass it on. If you are unable to present, please consider volunteering on March 23rd after school, when we will be setting up, or on March 24th for the event itself.
