The Shenandoah School Corporation Board of Trustees met for a Regular Meeting on Monday, August 15, 2016

at 7:00 P.M. in the Administration Office. Board members present were Mr. Scott Trennepohl, Mr. Jay Cronk,

Mrs. Beth Middletown,and Mr. Phil Chandler.

1. CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Scott Trennepohl, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. The Pledge to the Flag was led by

Mr. Phil Chandler.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the minutes of the executive session and regular meeting of July 25, 2016.

Mrs. Beth Middleton seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

3. BUSINESS

A. AUTHORIZATION TO PUBLISH 2017 BUDGET ESTIMATE:

Mr. Ron Green, Superintendent recommended the Board authorize publication of the 2017 Budget Estimate. Publication will

be in the Middletown News and the New Castle Courier on Thursday, August 25, 2016. In addition, the 2017 Budget Estimate is in the Gateway system. Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the publication. Mr. Phil Chandler seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

Mrs. Julia Miller, Business Manager, requested the Board consider resolutions on Resolution Authorizing Budget Reductions and Levy Neutrality for the School Pension Bond Debt Service Fund. A motion was made by Mr. Jay Cronk and seconded by Mrs. Beth Middleton to approve the budget resolutions. The motion carried (4-0).

4. REQUESTS

A. SEVEN (7) SEMESTER GRADUATION REQUEST:

Mr. Jake Wiese, Shenandoah High School building principal, recommended Colton Radcliff be approved to graduate this December upon completion of seven (7) semesters. All graduation credit requirements must be met prior to the end of Semester 1, 2016-2017 for Colton to graduate in December 2016. A motion was made by Mr. Jay Cronk and seconded by Mr. Phil Chandler to approve the early

graduations for this student. The motion carried (4-0).

B. FIELD TRIP TO CANOE COUNTRY:

Mr. Bill Gast, Shenandoah Middle school teacher requested permission to take approximately seventy (70) students canoeing or kayaking on the White River through Canoe Country on Sunday, August 28, 2016. The parents provide transportation to and from the activity.

Mrs. Beth Middleton made a motion to approve the trip and Mr. Jay Cronk seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

C. OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIP FOR FFA:

A motion was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton and seconded by Mr. Phil Chandler to approve the FFA overnight fieldtripto the

State FFA PLT/LDW Camp September 9-11, 2016. Fourteen (14) students and 1 chaperone will travel by SSC mini-bus. The motion

carried (4-0).

D. OUT OFSTATE FIELD TRIP FOR SHS BAND:

Ms. Cathy Marshall requested Board permission for an out of state field trip to the Preble County Port Festival in Eaton, Ohio on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Approximately forty (:40) students and chaperones will travel by SSC school bus. Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve, seconded by Mr. Phil Chandler. The motion carried (4-0).

E. GIFTS:

Mr. Phil Chandler made a motion to approve the following gifts for SHS–FFA donations in memory of Kent Johnson:

Larry & Nancy Shirey; Ed & Marla Shirey and Family; and Mike &

Lisa Shirey and Family $25.00

Gerald & Patricia Griffin - $10.00

Marie W. Butler - $25.00

M. Charlotte Miller - $50.00

Bruce Rhoton & Beth Alley and Family - $50.00

Matthew & Charity Surface also gave a donation to SHS–Athletic department. Mr. Jay Cronk seconded the motion.
The motion carried (4-0).

F. TRANSFER STUDENTS FOR 2016-2017:

Mr. Brent Kinsey, Shenandoah Elementary Principal requested approval of four (4) transfer students and Mr. Jake Wiese, Shenandoah HighSchool Principal requested approval of four (4) transfer students for the 2016-2017 school year.

A motion was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton, seconded by Mr. Phil Chandler to approve the recommended transfer requests.

The motion carried (4-0).

5. PERSONNEL

A. RECOMMENDATIONS:

A motion was made by Mr. Jay Cronk and seconded by Mrs. Beth Middleton to approve the following recommendations. Shenandoah Elementary School – Brittany Sloan, Title 1 Assistant; Natalie Trautmann, Title 1 Assistant; Morgan Huff, Special Education Instructional Assistant. Shenandoah Middle School – Jennifer Poor, Special Education Instructional Assistant; Dameon Wyatt, Physical Education and Health, Dameon Wyatt 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach; Kristan Sutton, Classroom,

Locker room, Office, Lunchroom Assistant. Shenandoah Middle School/Shenandoah High School – Victoria Johnson, 5 ¾ Hour Cafeteria; Leah Stevens, Head Cook/Cafeteria Meal Program; Cindy Swift, 5 ¾ Hour Cafeteria; Sherrie Watson, 5 ¾ Hour Cafeteria. Shenandoah High School – Devon Lyons, Volunteer Assistant Football Coach; Devon Shelton, Volunteer Assistant Football Coach. Motion carried (4-0).

B. RESIGNATIONS:

A motion was made by Mr. Phil Chandler and seconded by Mrs. Beth Middleton to approve theresignations of Shenandoah Elementary School – Amanda Griner, Title 1 Assistant; Teresa Habzansky, Title 1 Assistant. Shenandoah Elementary/Shenandoah Middle School – Danielle Crowthers, Physical Education Teacher and Assistant Track Coach. Shenandoah Middle School/

Shenandoah High School – Megan Hummel, 5 ¾ Hour Cafeteria. Motion carried (4-0).

6. CLAIMS

Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the claims as presented. Mrs. Beth Middleton seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

7. DOCUMENT SIGNATURES

The board signed the following documents: Minutes from July 25, 2016 Executive and Regular Board Meeting; Tax Neutrality Resolution; Approved Resolution Authorizing Budget Reduction; Annual Financial Report; Thank You Letters; Teacher Contract; ECA Contracts; and Claims.
