To be eligible for inclusion in a given year's appraisal process the completed application form, application fee and other required documentation should reach the ADEE office by 17:00hrs. (UTC - local time in Ireland) on the last day of March. Applications received after that date/time will not be considered.

Note

A candidate who exceeds the word limits stipulated in the application form will have their submission returned to them.

An Application Fee of €100 must be received by the closing date for submission of applications.

We request that applicants email no later than two weeks in advance of the closing date stating their intention to make a submission. An invoice will then be issued via email to facilitate payment by bank transfer.

ADEE - Mature Educator Award

[1] This should include previous and current appointments; qualifications with date and awarding institution; honours, prizes or other recognition with dates and awarding institution; brief outline of current educational duties/responsibilities;

[2] e.g. chair-side teaching; lecturing; small group teaching; harnessing of contemporary technology for dental education purposes, development of innovative educational material; assessment; curriculum development; student support. Indicate why you have a special interest in your area of strength or innovation, what difference you believe you are making to the education of your students, and what you would like to see for the future

[3] e.g. chair of curriculum committee in home institution; leader of a local working group/party convened for a specific purpose, or member of a national or international group/party convened for similar reason; leader /senior member of a postgraduate learning and teaching course; membership of national educational committee; holder of office in specialist society such as European Orthodontic Society

[4] e.g. mentoring (offering guidance and advice, acting as a role model),

[5] e.g. papers published in university journals or peer-reviewed journals (give reference in Harvard style); presentation of papers or posters to your school or university, at a national or international meeting, e.g. ADEE Annual Meeting or another educational meeting such as the Education Research Group of IADR. This could include project work undertaken by students or junior staff under your supervision. The reflection should indicate the motivation for undertaking the work, your thoughts on the process of the project and how the outcome has changed your understanding and/or practice and how it enhanced the development of the student/junior staff member

[6] e.g. contribution to a Working Group or Special Interest Group at the ADEE Annual Meeting, or leading multidisciplinary work within your institution, collaboration with colleagues in another institution nationally or internationally, or collaboration in grant applications for pedagogical research and/or development

[7] e.g. attendance at teaching the teachers events; successful completion of ADEE educational courses; successful completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education

[8] e.g. you may have been nominated for or received an award or promotion for your educational skills/activities by your university or in national competition. You may have been an invited or keynote speaker at a national or international meeting, invited to take part in /lead a DentEd school visit or similar educational quality assurance activity. You may have received the ADEE Early Career excellence award!
