Associate Director

Overview of Position

The Associate Director is responsible for oversight of the after school program as well as facilities use at Pacific Camps when the Director is not present. Most of these responsibilities fall into two general categories: Implementation of program and supervision of Staff. The Associate Director will fall under the number two position, they will be familiar with the workings of the Afterschool program and will feel comfortable stepping into any position when needed. The Associate Director will also be in charge of the transportation program for Pacifc Camps Afterschool. This includes the transportation of students outside the St. Helens school district to the Afterschool facility.

Required Aptitudes and Skills

The Associate Director must be a growing Christian and a person of integrity. He/she must be a participating member at Grace Baptist Church. This ministries focus will be to win children and their families for Jesus Christ, foster relationships with children and their families, and provide a place for learning and mentoring. Therefore, the following aptitudes are required: Spiritual maturity, biblical knowledge, leadership, submission to authority, teaching, discipleship and a desire to work with children. The Associate Director will need to be detail oriented and able to keep accurate and timely records; able to multi-task and perform various duties on a regular schedule as well as carry out unscheduled tasks; have good public relations skills in dealing with parents, children, schools, Church, staff, and others.

Experience and Training

The Associate Director should have education and training that exhibits the knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position. He/she should have a minimum of two years experience working with children and youth, as well as a working knowledge of child and youth development and programming. The Associate Director needs to fulfill class requirements each year as dictated by state licensing. Associate directors will need to be at minimum teacher qualified.

Specific Responsibilities

Associate Director oversight includes: Oversight of transportation programand adherence to policies for Pacific Camps; oversight along with Director of weekly scheduling ensuring staff ratios are met on a hourly/daily/weekly basis; effective communication with staff regarding changes in schedules and other information; coordination of staff in multiple programs and vehicles for field trips and seasonal programs.

Reporting and Supervision

The Associate Director will report to the Director. All expenses will be presented to and approved by the Director.

Wages

Associate Directors will be paid on an hourly basis. Per hour wage is to be $10 per hour worked. Hours will be submitted to the Camp Director. Associate Director pay will be increased to $12 (Director’s wage) if/and when they need to step into the Director’s position. Associate Directors will be paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Work Schedule

Associate Directors will work a 9+ month schedule, from early September to early June. The minimum hours they will work will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm Monday through Fridays. The hours are subject to change according to the program needs and enrollment of children. The Afterschool program will be open to clients for any school days off, some holidays, etc. Therefore, we will be able to offer additional hours those days/weeks of camp. The Associate Director is required to complete annual training.

I understand the above job description and agree to perform these duties as a part of my overall employment at Pacific Camps. I will perform them to the best of my ability. I understand that this description may change due to changes within the ministry and at the discretion of the supervisor.
