Assistant Professor Tenure-Track Position at Louisiana State University Shreveport

Position:

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, within the School of Human Science in the College of Business, Education and Human Science at LSU Shreveport, invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. A doctoral degree in Kinesiology or closely related field exercise science , with interest in Public Health with Physical Activity would complement the current focus of the departmental programs. The department currently offers a undergraduate degree in Community Health with different concentrations including PrePT/OT, Physical Activity, Health Behavior, Non-Profit Leadership, Health Fitness Management, and Strength and Conditioning; and in collaboration with LSU A & M, an undergraduate degree in Sport Administration is available. ROTC is also housed within the department also. A Master of Public Health, a joint degree, between LSU Shreveport and LSU Health Science Shreveport is available.

Teaching Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate level Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Anatomical Kinesiology, Biomechanics with lab, Research and other related courses as needed. The candidate is expected to direct the current exercise science lab and assist in the expansion of motion analysis activities.

Substantial opportunities for collaborative research exist with faculty in the Master of Public Health program, the USA Weightlifting Development Center, and interdisciplinary partnership with other units on campus such as digital arts and biological sciences. Additional responsibilities include providing service to the university, community, and profession along with undergraduate advising.

Minimum Position Qualification:

Doctoral degree in Kinesiology or closely related field such as Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, and/or Biomechanics. ABDs will be considered with anticipated graduation by December of 2018.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
