OCTOBER IS YOUTH MONTH

HERITAGE SUNDAY ‘17

Lord God of Hosts, in whom our fathers trusted:

we give you thanks for all your servants who have laid down their lives

in the service of our country.

Unite all the people fo this land in a holy purpose to defend the freedom and brotherhood for which they lived and died.

Grant that the liberty they have left for us may be continued to our children

and our children’s children,

and that the power of the Gospel may here abound.

To the blessing of all the nations of the earth and to thine eternal glory;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Call to Worship

Hymn of Praise:No. 1 - #16 – “Lord Christ whose love ….. us here”

1. Lord Christ whose love has brought us here 3. The peace which lifts us near to you

ourSaviour King, is ours today;

within these walls, so dear to us, the sacred calm of trustful faith

your praise shall ring. drives care away;

Today, with joy and peace and hope, that you will free from every fear

your people sing. your servants pray.

2. With joy we meet the friends we love, 4. With hope we face the paths untrod

before your throne, which none can view;

our voices raised with one accord for you will guide our stumbling feet,

your name to own; be near us too;

whilst those we miss are still your care, may each year’s service find us still

nor are alone nearer to you.

Prayer of Adoration & Thanksgiving

Responsive Reading: #668

Leader - Come, my children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Whoever of you loves life

and desires to see many good days,

People - keep your tongue from evil

and your lips from speaking lies.

Leader - Turn from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.

People - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous

and his ears are attentive to their cry;

Leader - the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,

to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

People - The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;

he delivers them from all their troubles.

All - The Lord is close to the broken-hearted

Songs of Worship

A] I am a Warrior

We are soldiers in the army

We have to fight or we have to die

We have to hold up the bloodstained battle

We got to hold it up until we die

We are going up, we're going up together

We’re going up to conquer

Don't talk no, no

Don't talk defeat to me

I am a child of God and I've got the victory

I am a warrior, I am a conqueror,

I'm an overcomer

In the name of the Lord

B] I know who I am

We are a chosen generation

We've been called forth to show His excellence

All I require for life, God has given me

And I know who I am

I know who God says I am

What He says I am

Where He says I'm at

I know who I am

I'm walking in power, I'm working miracles

I live a life of favour, for I know who I am

Oh ohoh, oh ohoh

I know who I am

I am holy, I am righteous oh…

I am so rich, I am beautiful.

Tribute To [Mrs. Linetta Taylor ]

[Children 10 years and under leave for Junior Church]

[BRIEF PERIOD OF SILENCE]

[Sung prayerfully] Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,

there’s just something about that name.

Master, Saviour, Jesus,

like the fragrance after the rain.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,

let all heaven and earth proclaim.

Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away.

But there is something about that name.

Prayer of Confession & Intercession

[Sung prayerfully]

Hear my cry, O Lord

Attend unto my prayer

From the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee

When my heart is overwhelmed

Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I,

that is higher than I

For thou has been a shelter for me

and a strong tower from the enemy

When my heart is overwhelmed

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I

That is higher than I

Song of Meditation: No. 2 - “10000 Reasons”

The sun comes up

It’s a new day dawning

It’s time to sing Your song again

Whatever may pass

And whatever lies before me

Let me be singing

When the evening comes

Cho: Bless the Lord, O my soul

O my soul

Worship His Holy name.

Sing like never before

O my soul

I’ll worship Your Holy name

You’re rich in love

And You’re slow to anger

Your name is great

And Your heart is kind

For all Your goodness

I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day

When my strength is failing

The end draws near

And my time has come

Still my soul will

Sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Prayer Benediction

Verse 1

It only takes a spark

To get a fire going

And soon all those around

Can warm up in its glowing

That's how it is with God's love

Once you've experienced it

You spread His love to ev'ryone

You want to pass it on

Verse 2

What a wondrous time is spring

When all the trees are budding

The birds begin to sing

The flowers start their blooming

That's how it is with God's love

Once you've experienced it

You want to sing it's fresh like spring

You want to pass it on

Verse 3

I wish for you my friend

This happiness that I've found

You can depend on Him

It matters not where you're bound

I'll shout it from the mountain top

I want my world to know

The Lord of love has come to me

I want to pass it on
