Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs and serves a critical role in providing learning opportunities for students by promoting cultural awareness and social justice. The Office of Multicultural Affairs strives to contribute to a community in which all students feel safe and empowered to recognize and act on one's social responsibility in relation to domestic and global issues. The Office of Multicultural Affairs offers advocacy, programming, and support systems to encourage students to realize the highest level of their potential, particularly as it pertains to the University's retention and graduation efforts of traditionally under-served student populations(such as, but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression).
The Office of Multicultural Affairs is currently seeking qualified individuals for the Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs position.
Under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive multicultural advocacy program for underrepresented student populations to include LGBTQ, traditionally underrepresented male communities, and student organization development. Serve as main coordinator and presenter for SafeZone trainings. Supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff. This position serves as advisor to student organizations and resource for students and campus community. This position is also responsible for planning multicultural and outreach events.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Master’s degree required
-One year of full time experience in higher education administration or related field.
-Demonstrated success working with multicultural environments and communities.
-Experience advising cultural student organizations.
-Knowledge of the research on student development and underrepresented populations.
-Ability to create and deliver effective presentations for students and staff.
-Collaborate effectively with diverse range of populations.
-Excellent communication skills(oral and written), project management, documentation and reporting skills (assessment and evaluation).
-Demonstrated capability in Microsoft Office(word, excel, powerpoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
-Two to three years higher education administration experience
-College instructor experience with first-year seminar course
-Excellent budgeting skills
-Event planning skills
-Research and publication experience
